Errors when loading game
Hello, I get a string of error messages when starting my ootp.
The first one that pops up is: "error could not find folder/facegen/little_endion!" its then followed by a few more listing templates and folders it cant find I have tried re-installing, re-downloading, patches, ect and keep getting these messages. I dont know if it makes a difference or not but I dont have ootp installed to the default directory. Instead I have my HDD broken down into partitions. I created a "D:/game" partition that I have been installing it to and my C drive doesnt have enough room to install ootp on.

I actually do almost exactly what you mentioned, and it seems to be working fine for me. (I install to d:\ootp9.)If you have the patience for it, I'd like to suggest this: 1. Back up any saved game or important custom data you have 2. Uninstall the game (using the uninstall option) 3. Make sure you have no ootp developments folders in that d:/game/whatever directory 4. Make sure you have no ootp developments folders in your My Documents folder. 5. Delete the files in the hidden folder C:\Documents and Settings\<your user name>\Application Data\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 9\config (if you have XP) In vista, it's C:\users\(your username)\appdata\roaming\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 9 6. Restart your computer 7. Install the game, selecting d:\games\ootp9 or whatever as your custom folder. Don't mess around with the custom folder settings in the Preferences, you shouldn't need to! That eLicense control panel thing has been around forever. (It's an e-License thing, not an OOTP thing.) If you need to unlicense, I can show you how! |

I would back up my elicense though. I do. I put it in several places where I keep keys to programs and other important information. That way, even if I lose one harddrive, I have it on several others. Just good practice. I also maintain a complete copy of the sim in a rar file in another harddrive. Of course, not everyone runs four very large harddrives as I do but hey, I want to make sure I have enough space for anything. And I do! Anyway, good luck with the install. And it doesn't matter where you put it as long as it is all there. The only thing that might confuse you is when people on the forum here talk about putting something in certain folders. Those are normal setup folders. You just have to figure out where your directories are in relationship to the normal setup. It isn't hard the figure out though. The end folders are the important things to know. I would reinstall the entire game with the newest version and update. And do it in another place if you don't feel comfortable with deleting anything or overwriting something that you don't want to be overwritten.

Battists, thanks
I actually started to just wipe my HDD last night and see if that helps (about that time anyways since I had a bunch of random crap on my computer that I really didnt need anymore. When I get home from work I'm gunna finish installing graphics cards drivers, windows updates, and ect then OOTP and see if I still have the problem. BTW I didnt break my HDD into partitions this time, we'll see how it goes. thanks for the responses, I've been playing ootp since version 2 and have never had any problems! I guess 1 every 7 or 8 versions will work for me

I'm trying to remember what seemed wrong, exactly. IIRC, when I installed it the first time, the folder tree structure was incorrect. I wanna say there was no /data folder in the directory tree, and all the stuff that belonged in the /data folder was installed in the main directory.
In other words, the installation ended up as such: H:\Program Files (x86)\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 9\xxxxxx and all the folders (addons, ballcaps, ballparks, etc) ended up here, instead of H:\Program Files (x86)\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 9\data\xxxxxx

Reformatting not breaking my HDD into partitions seemed to work. I noticed that when it was installed with multiple partitions it didnt create a directory under the "my documents" like it did after i installed using just the C: drive.

As there hasn't been a reply to the question in the last week, we'll assume the problem has righted itself and close this thread. If the problem still exists, please let us know and we'll reopen it.
