Massive Problems After The Patch

I downloaded the full version with the new patch. I installed it and everything went crazy. I keep getting an error message when it starts. Eventually that stopped, but it takes several minutes to start up, as opposed to seconds before the patch. I would be grateful if someone could point me in the direction of a step-by-step instruction on how to completely uninstall this game, download and install the new patched version, and have all the logos, photos, and history etc. in their. I messed with this for hours and have become extremely frustrated. Thank you.

I forgot to add that I am using the MAC version on OSX version 10.5.4

Okay, you definitely do want to uninstall and reinstall. With a Mac, uninstalling involves deleting your OOTP 9 files first. You'll want to save your saved_games folder, however. Everything in your saved games should be found in that folder, so that should be all you need.
