Help!

i just purchased the game, and am very confused about how to build a team. someone please help me!!

You have to realize that the answer to such a broad question can only be brief. This is a complicated game and there is much to learn, but the rewards for putting in the time and effort to do so are great.

its not as complex as you may think. the key is balance. This game is a sim, so look at the success of real teams such as the red sox. They have balance at every position. Don't wreck you budget for a superstar who alone won't get you anywhere, or be to conservative and play with a team of so-so players that won't get you anywhere...really it helps to think each position through thoroughly and address your needs there...hope this helps a little!
