Patch 2

I was a fanatic of OOTP1-5, but haven't played it since then. I have read about OOTP9 but am concerned about some of the MLB roster issues ... should I help my blood pressure out and wait for Patch #2 before purchasing ?

Has the game changed a lot since OOTP5 ?

The patch will be out very soon. The roster issues are being fixed.

The game is 1000 times better then OOTP5.

It is a completely different game than 5, and the second patch will be out soon. There is so much more that has been added I'm sure you will love it if you were a fanatic in the past.

I remember 6.12/6.5 which is where I came in, but that version of OOTP seems to me now like the old card and dice APBA did to me back then, when I was looking at this great new PC game that I had just downloaded. I can only imagine the differences from back before then to now.

I grew up on and learned a lot of player names from my APBA days 77-91. That to me was The Game, and the APBA Journal The Newspaper!

66's

That would make 2 of us them - started APBA back in 1976. Still play with it some.

I loved the APBA games as a kid growing up. In addition to baseball, had the football (1972 with the Dolphins perfect season) and golf (not so much fun) and the Horse Racing game that was really a blast to play with other people.

I can still name line-ups, utility players, and pitching rotations from the early 70's because of those board games. My favorite player in the game (thought a Mets fan) was Rennie Stennet !!!

Was looking at 6.5 a few days ago and was amazed at how different OOTP9 is. As there are so many new things to play with in the game, I'd suggest getting it now so you can familiarize yourself with the way it works and be ready for some serious gaming when the patch comes out. The learning curve is higher than it used to be, but so are the rewards.

I had the foot ballstarting with the 1975 season and the basketball starting with the 1981-82 season. Many fond memories for sure.

The ol' six-hits-in-a-game Rennie Stennet?

Black guy, thin, no pop, but could run his ass off!
