Retirement of great players
I know you all say use the historical retirement enable stuff.....
But I would like to have players sometimes get a longer or shorter career. So I still play without this rule. On the other hand I canīt figure out that in my case Craig Biggio got an career ended injury in 1989. I donīt play with retire like in real-life, so what would have happen to Biggio. The issue however wasnīt this, but I think itīs kind of strange that players that donīt get injured but realesed in August gets "pissed" off and actually retires within a week. Not even at the end of the season. OK not all do this, but I have seen several in the 4-5 years I played my dynasty. Some was only 26-27 years of age, and had a long career in real-life ahead of them. What Iīm getting at is that I think players DO retire to easily to often and I would like to see a little more guts from players thatīs not even have an injury. There must be a way to make players hang in longer if they are not pushing over like 33 years of age. Is this something more than me thinking about ??? |

You can unretire players you do not wish retired using the unretire function found on the retired players screen under the league history tab.

Of course I know this, but I think is so strange that many players retire before the season is over.
I can live with the fact that after each season I "walk over" the retirement issue and unretire players, but even then I can of think that something isnīt correct in this. I have seen another thread pointing at this issue that players just retire without the normal causes, career ending injury or sitting out as FA a whole year. I know ball-players are little different than other folks (hm) but these seam a little bit more itchy and have not much believe in themselves. Looking at another game , Football Manager (thatīs soccer), that OOTP had a small marriage with, and one can see a much more "real" fact over the retirements. What I ment is not soo very much during the seasons and often not un-injuried players below 30-33 years. Just a feel I guess .... It feels odd. |

I think part of the problem is that in real life, players don't know their injuries are career ending right away. Players tend to try to come back as long as there is that glimmer of hope, which isn't there in OOTP.
Some people get around this by taking out CEI's in the injury text. It's an interesting idea that I might try if I could get ahold of a modified one. |

Well,
if injury was the whole problem I could deal with it, but several players just get released and days after retire. Even a bit odd that Steve Carlton retired (oh he was old enough) BUT days after he was inducted into Hall of Fame. Wasnīt such an induction several years down the road ??? |

In OOTP, Hall of Fame inductions occur immediately after a player retires. The only work around is if you handle all inductions yourself.

In the League Setup find Hall of Fame Criteria. Set all requirements to zero so that no one gets elected (someone else correct me if I'm wrong... otherwise set the requirements to something unattainable). Next when you want to induct a retired player goto his player page, click actions, and manually induct him in.

Still outside of HoF the injuries troubles me.
I had seen tons of players, mostly pitchers, retire 25-26 years old. I have unretired many of them, but next year they call it a end again. It seams I have ended up between the standard and the new rule to retire as history. Heck..... |

Get the guys page up and look at the button ACTION....
You can Unretire, or Delete, or send him to Hall of Fame. If one do it very close to when he retired he will not drop too much in rating. Wait some time before you notice him and he will be lesser in the Free Agent pool and then likely to retire on his own again I think. This will set you up to check retired players every month. Thatīs irritates me
