Help with correct sim settings

Guys,

I want to start a historical league using the 1985 Oakland A's I then want to switch to the Florida Marlins in 2002. This is the way my baseball history went so I want to follow that. I have lots of questions though

I want to play every game game by game.
I want players to go to their original teams
I want them to retire when they decide not like in real life
I want the league to auto expand

Now here are my questions

When I did this to start it made me have a rookie draft half way through the first season. Since I want rookies going to their correct teams, I want this turned off right?

I wish I could have a farm league to develop players, but I hate have a minor league team with 4 players and the rest ghost players. I also dont want fictional players. So I guys I should go with the reserve roster?

What happens when the league expands, how does the league make sure the new teams get the same players they got during that draft?

Any other thoghts or suggestions. I also remember a utility where it would change your logos based on the year of your league, is that still around?

I'm new to this version of the game, so I can't help much, but I believe the answer to your first question is yes, turn off the rookie draft.

Be sure to "uncheck" or disable the amateur draft. This will cause players to be assigned to their original teams.

If you don't want minors then the reserve roster is your only choice. I personally don't have any problems with ghost players.

The new teams do NOT get the same players they got during the real draft. Maybe those players have had CEI or retired. Also, with trades, etc. theses players may be on the protected list. The AI will undoubtedly use some different criteria in determining who is protectd. If you really want this to be the same, the only way I know is to individually edit the players and assign them to the new expansion team.

As for other thoughts, unless you completely disable injuries and do not allow trading, players will have different career spans and team histories. And if you do not allow trading then that does not reflect history accurately unless you manually force the trades that happened IRL.

One last thing is that your financial settings like free agency and arbitration periods will also have an effect on the movement of players.
