Need some advice...

with the same problem I have had with each of the versions since 6.5. Just coming back to start my fictional league and get this error message.

DATABASE::load_database - could not load world file.

It goes on to say that the file is either corrupt or from some older version. Nothing odd happened when I shut down the game last. This has happened with me many time before with 7 & 8 where I could never start that league again and was forced to start all over.
Please, someone tell me what to do to fix this and prevent it from happening in the future.

Thanks, Greg

Is this a league you created with OOTP9 or imported?

Can you give us your specs - PC or Mac, processor, memory, hard drive size and available space

This as a fictional league that I created in OOTP9. I have an intel 3.2 processor with 2 gigs RAM and Radion 9800 series video card.

HMMM.. not much interest here. I have currupted data files I guess. What causes the files to become currupt and can they be fixed so that I can continue my game?

Did you simulate any length through this game before saving?

Nothing in the program should corrupt the files.

Have you got any anti-virus software running that might have tried to do something to the .dat files as they were being saved?

I usually sim a week or month at a time.
Yes. Norton runs all the time. For more info. I started a whole new fictional league I usually Sim a week at a time. I did this through the season and saved just before playoffs to go to work. I come home and restart and the load get 55% through then the message pops up again that says

DATABASE:: load_database-could not load players file.

Underneath that was a error box saying a file was corrupt.
The game is unplayable like this. What can de corrupting files when i save a game? Could it be Norton? Help please or I will need a refund.

Well, I know I won't get a refund. Don't want one, just want to be able to get through a season without corrupted files.
Anyone....please.

Can you remember if anything odd happened when you saved the game?

Could you FTP the files up as per the instructions in the sticky post and we'll get someone to look at it.

you could try to DL a program like Smart FTP which is free to access the FTP page to upload your file.

Do double check and make sure you're only including the .dat files. That greatly reduces the size of your file.
