I'm playing a historical game right now, started as the 1972 Rangers. Everything seems okay to me, but I'm not a details guy.

The Lahman database is part of the game. Simply start a custom game, pick Historical, choose your year and you are good to go.

There are other choices you can make, but doing what I described will get you going for the first time.

"Joe, there were a hundred thousand people there and they were all cheering and clapping; you've never seen anything like it."

"Yes, I have," DiMaggio responded.

The Lahman database does contain the real rosters and players for the year you want to start with, providing you haven't selected the "hold inaugural draft" option when you create your game, which will dump all the players into a draft pool.

Make sure you select Create Historical League, not Standard League or Fictional League, and the database path points to "historical_database.odb" in your "stats" folder.

Depending on if you selected to use ghost players or complete minor league rosters, you may get some fictional players to fill out the minor league rosters, but you can prevent them from making the major league rosters, and you will still get all the real players.
