why change the scouting

I loved the scouting from the previous version where i had different scouts that i could send out to different parts of the world to find me hidden players are just keep scouting the majors or any other league over and over keeping me updated, this new model is not as detailed and I'm not getting as many hidden players as i was before. Any thought on having an option to chose between the two different types of scouting

I've only simmed ahead a couple of weeks on mine and had about 3-4 hidden players discovered. The game finds hidden players just like previous versions, just goes about it in a different way. Instead of you manually sending scouts to different countries, your director does it for you, based on how much money you're spending on international scouting.

Scouting was changed because most people didn't use it because of too much micro managing. The frequency and skill level of hidden players has also been adjusted so you aren't going to find as many or a great hidden players during a season.

Of course if you spend more money in that area of your scouting budget you've got a better chance of having more success than those that spend less.

It has also been my experience that scouts find hidden players much more frequently in the offseason.

When you say your scouting is finding hidden players, how is this reported? I haven't seen any message from my scout telling me about any good players I should pursue in the league. Is there a place I can see all the players my scout thinks I should go after?

None of my scouts ever found a quality foreign player, even my head scout who was the best scout in the league (95? ratings in all his abilities). I hope they didn't turn down the chances of finding a quality player because if they did I won't be needing to spend any money on foreign scouting.

I decided to not scout foreign players in the 07 version because i considered it cheating. All i had to do was place all of my scouts except the head scout in either japan or the domenican rep and the finds would start slowly the first year then about once a year annually i would start getting allstar quality players. When a scout notified me of a find i would have my head scout double check him by re-scouting.

too easy...

There is no place, per se, that shows the players you should go after, but rather you will receive an e-mail from your head scout saying "I found Jim Smith in Algeria" and then giving you a scouting report. You can then look at his player card and offer him a contract.

The scouting was changed because it was far too cumbersome, the new system is a lot more usable for most users.

I understand you preferred the old way and there is nothing wrong with that, but if there is anything we have learned over time on this board is that there are a wide variety of strong opinions on almost every option in OOTP.

Markus and co have the very unenviable task of trying to please the majority, but knowing they will never please everybody.

Thanks. However, I simmed a few years so far and have never received an email yet. I'll have to pay closer attention.
