I´m not checking regularly, so I don´t know if this has been suggested before:

In the depth chart there should be slots for Pinch Hitters.
So you can assign a primary Pinch Hitter vs. LHPs and RHPs. The primary Pinch Hitter should be used in close/late situations, so he doesn´t get used if a pitcher is roughed up in the early innings. Too often I check the game logs, just too see that my best bench player has not been used to hit in a situation, where a hit would have made the difference.
Most of the times the best hitter available is a guy who platoons at a position. It would be nice to know the AI will use him in situation where he could do some damage.

And:
I´d like to see the left handed specialist. I think there are many pitchers who are nasty against LHBs but can do almost nothing against RHBs.
In my first ootp-season I used a pitcher like that in a set up role, hoping the AI would use him against LHBs in the late Innings. But he also got inserted in situations where he would just face RHBs and get roughed up and blow a lot of safes.

Just my 2 cents

I gotta agree.

Both of these are important factors in baseball and really need to be implemented.

i would definitely like to see a pinch-hitter priority list, but i would only like to see lefty relief specialists as an option. it was not a reality 'til very late in the history of baseball and if managers used this option before baseball moved to larussaland it would be very unfortunate indeed.

I agree with both your suggestions.... I think it would close the gap a little bit in differences between simming/playing.

The pinch hitter list would be perfect as it would keep the game from inserting one of my pitchers into PH duty and I have an DH team. Not that this happens a lot but it has happened a few times.

I also agree with the lefty specialist idea, my lefties are constantly getting hammered because they are only good against lefties, and since most lefties are developed that way it only makes sense to do it.

i've been bringing up the lefty specialist forever and continuously get ignored. I like both of your ideas though. The other thing I keep bringing up is the ability to resign coaches.

Not only it has been suggested, but some of us still wonder why the pinch-hit option (or the depth chart overview or some pitching ratings...) was removed from the game in OOTP3. Not that it worked too well in the previous versions, but better than nothing.
