BZ 1448: No way to withdraw waiver claim

Playing in commish mode, I expanded my league from 22 to 24 teams after simming a few years. I then took control of one of the new teams and ran an expansion draft. I've been simming day by day after the draft, and so far I have claimed a player off of waivers and made offers to 4 free agents. The game just did these things. I didn't do anything other than press "Finish day" a few times.

I am the GM of the club and all of my manager options are set to human control. Did I forget a setting somewhere or is this a bug?

Are you sure they weren't initiated before you took over the team?

Well, it was an expansion team, and I took control immediately after expansion and before the draft. Expansion was on Jan. 1 and the draft was Jan. 3. I guess it's possible that the AI did these things instantly after the team was created.

I'm thinking thats what happened. Just keep going and let us know if it keeps happening. Check your pending FA offers and waiver claims, see how it looks.

Thanks!

I went to a backup file from the day of the draft, and I have several pending FA offers, so those must have been made when the team was created. I didn't think a team would make FA offers before the expansion draft, but I guess I was wrong.

What about the waiver claim, though? I go to the waiver wire page, rt-click on the player in question, and I'm given the option to claim the player. So it seems that the waiver claim happened after I took control of the team.

...I hit "Finish Today" and, once again, claimed the player automatically.

Hmm, and all of your manager options are set to human owned? Your 100% sure?

OK... working from the backup file again, I selected "claim player" and got a confirmation window. If I rt-click again, I still have the option to claim him, but no option to withdraw the claim.

So, is it possible that the AI claimed him on Jan. 1, but didn't actually get him until Jan. 4? If so, is there a way to withdraw the claim? I don't see an option to do so anywhere.

Yeah. Manager options page, Team control settings: all set to human control. Those are the only settings to be checked, right?

Still in commish mode, if that makes a difference.

Thats odd that it doesn't give you an option to remove the claim. Can you zip the .dats and send them to me?

I just realized that my waiver period is set for 3 days, which would mean that a player claimed Jan. 1 would be put in a team's DFA on Jan. 4, right? That would explain the claim, but not the fact that I couldn't withdraw the offer.

Or not. I tried claiming another player and he was on my DFA the next day.

This isn't a big deal for playing my league. I can just release the guy and eat 250K. I'm just worried that these phantom waiver claims will continue.

As thomamon stated, the claim likely happened before the human GM took over. The date at which a team claims a player doesn't affect when the player joins them, only the date at which a team was first put on waivers.

The only issue here is that you can not remove a claim once you put one in an d it does not notify you if you already have a claim on the player.
