Game won't start.

I got a new laptop with Windows Vista 64 bit, installed OOTP 9, double clicked the shortcut, and...

the game won't start.

Is there an incompatibility or something I missed? I'm reinstalling at the moment. Has anyone else had this problem?

What happens? Does it simply not start or do you get an error message? Does it install ok?

It will not start when I click on the OOTP 9 executable file. No error message.
It took awhile to install but finally finished o.k.

I am also having an issue with Vista 64bit... have unistalled and re-installed. Have followed the steps regarding AVG but never got a trojan warnign (did it anyway)

My default is to be in administrator mode (anything else I should do here)

When I double-click the shortcut... I get a thinking icon for about 1 or 2 seconds and then nothing happens... rebooted several times...nothing....

Any suggestions?

Right-click on the shortcut and choose 'run as administrator'.

So you have a fully installed copy and it won't open? Or is it okay now?

I downloaded the game.. installed it successfully, double clicked the shortcut to start..

Filled in my info for new manager, clicked ok and got an error message, shutting the game down

How do I fix?

I'm on XP, by the way and know basically nothing about computers lol

OK..

1st off: As soon as the game comes up.. an error pops up that says "Could not find folder /facegen/little_endian! Facegen will be disabled

Followed by:

TEXT_ENGINE::my_load_text_file() - Folder does not exist

But those aren't my problem, just thought you'd like to know

I click on New Game, I put my name in, click OK

When it's done going through, an error reads:

DATABASE::load_database - could not load the file

I have no idea what that means, but it still lets me go to Set up my manager

I set up my manager, click ok, and that's when this pops up:

"ootp9.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

And at the bottom of the error, it asks me if I want to send the error report or Don't Send

That's when it shuts down
