Coaching
How important is hiring coaches and scouts to your team's success?
A number of times I've discovered that one of my coaches has left the team and I will have played for months without any difference in outcome. In fact, a couple times when my major league team was doing very well and pitching better than in past seasons, I later realized I didn't even have a pitching coach. Also, what do scouts at the minor league levels do? It is my understanding that you can't send them to do specific tasks and I have my major league scouts assess my entire organization including the minor leagues so what are the minor league scouts actually doing and are they necessary? |

Coaches help development. If you don't have coaches, players may not develop as well as they may have under a top coach. I haven't done an experiment to see what happens when you play with coaching turned on, but you have no coaches hired.
Minor league scouts really only get utilized if you're a minor league manager. Otherwise, they're sucking up money, in my opinion. Also, you can probably get away with fewer scouts in the present version of the game. Especially if you're not scouting countries.
