The Off Topic Baseball Association

Come join the league that embodies the OOTP Community! The OTBA has been around for, well a lot of seasons and a lot of years. I'm not sure how many. It's been around since Markus was nine years old.*

Traditionally, the OTBA has recruited from just the Off Topic section of the OOTP boards, but since that forum has been INCREASINGLY LAME lately, it is time to open our arms to the greater OOTP community. What can you expect from the OTBA?

-Reliability and stability. The OTBA has been around forever and isn't going anywhere. We sim on time, we have steady policies, and most owners have been in the league for years (real years, not game years).

-Active, adult owners. (their 4 no kidz in teh otba k thx). Not that we're against the idea, by rule, but that's the way things have worked out. Export rates are very high, minus the couple of inactive owners who we are looking to replace.

-Influential community members. Many OTBA members are or have been beta testers. Most are long-time members of the message boards who have played OOTP for many years and have provided suggestions on the game's development since before DIPS was a glint in Voros McCracken's eye. The OTBA represents, in many ways, OOTP's inner circle of members. Yet you can still expect...

-A welcoming atmosphere. It's a pretty laid back group of guys (and girl!)

-A modern, consistent baseball league. We keep league output at mid-1980's totals and are persistent about maintaining that play style. This is a great, balanced era where we have a good mix of slugging and small ball. You can win with sluggers and you can win with speedsters; baseball strategy and team building is at its finest with these settings.

-An immersive yet manageable experience. Some settings: Four levels of minors (including one short season A), a 12-round draft (of which we aim to get through 4-6 rounds before we go to lists), Rule 5 in effect, financials on (with salary cap). The OTBA aims to provide a full baseball management experience without asking for an extravagant time commitment to manage 12 levels of minors or scout five foreign leagues.

Please drop me a PM or post in this thread if you're interested in joining and we'll go from there. Also feel free to ask any questions. Thanks!

Like JWay I've been in the league from Day One. I heart the OTBA.

We got one more spot here, we're entering September, its the perfect time to pick up a team so you can get familiar with it before the offseason starts!

Just getting back into OOTP. I do not have the game, will not for a few weeks. Would this be an issue?

Up to you guys

If not having the game for a few weeks isn't a problem I'd love to join. I haven't yet joined a league and only plan on having 1 to start. But I will be fine with sitting on the waiting list if that's what I must do.

If you don't have OOTP2007/OOTP8 it'd be tough to bring you in at this moment, we do need one more owner looking for a good baseball community!

I'd like to vouch that the league is full of great people and has a great community sense which makes being in the league even more enjoyable. I have been in it since day one and probably the best league joining decision I've made so far.

You have to know the secret handshake.

Or you can click here for the forums. You won't be able to read much as a guest, but they're there. All the good things (like nudie picks of potatoman) are only accessible to owners.
