Historical League Questions on OOTP 8 and 9

I am a long time historical simmer who has bought OOTP since version 2. I bought every other year until 2007, since the upgrades to historical play were so amazing. (best version yet, by the way) My questions are: Does OOTP 8 enhance historical play at all? And will OOTP 9 feature any upgrades to historical play? Features like easier 19th century setup, a way to simulate pre-modern minor leagues, more accurate stats, and players playing at their real-life position (which they haven't done consistently since v6.5) would be appreciated.

And I read all of the stickies and couldn't find any answers.

OOTP8 is virtually the same game as OOTP'07. I don't see much point in upgrading, myself.

As for OOTP9... who knows right now. There are almost always incremental improvements with each full game that is released, plus some other minor stuff in the patches.

Edit - The newsletter had this to say:

Quote:
Several improvements have been made to the handling of historical leagues, for example the addition of several new stats modifiers, solidifying OOTP's place as the most flexible, most realistic historical baseball simulator.

If you read the beginning of this thread you can see what the differences are between OOTP 2007 and OOTP8.

Looks like I'll be sticking with 2007. I don't feel like paying $20+ for a few stats modifiers.

FYI, if you own 2007 it won't cost $20+. If you put in your 2007 order code when you purchase OOTP 8, it will knock of ($13 I think ??), but anyway the final cost to you is only $6.99. I too purchased 2007, and it took me a long time to get comfortable with it (my first OOTP purchase) and started playing seriously this spring. I went ahead and plopped down the $7 to upgrade, and while I'm not suggesting that you should too I did just want to point out that it won't cost $20+.

I believe he's talking about going from '07 to OOTP9.
