TSTBL: Blalock hits in 41 straight/Steady, reliable league needs 4
The TSTBL is in August of their second year, 2003. In last night's action Colorado Springs' 3B Hank Blalock popped-out in a pinch-hitting appearance to snap a 41-game hitting streak, the longest in league history. The streak saw Blalock's average jump from .358 to .392. In other news, half of the league's teams are either in first place, or within 5 games of first.
We have a great core group of active owners, but are currently in search of 4 more: SALT LAKE CITY (60-61, first place): The sub-.500 Stingers are leading the Western League North, a division that no one seems to want to win. A perfect situation to distinguish yourself and separate this team from the rest of the pack! SLC's offense if powered by 3B Troy Glaus (.228-31-82), 1B Lyle Overbay (.285-8-62), SS Angel Berroa (.256-3-25, 42 steals), and RF Matthew Lamas (.307-16-78). Leaders on the mound include: Bud Smith (6-4, 2.64), Brandon Claussen (12-8, 3.41), Dan Wright (8-7, 2.45) and closer Benito Baez (27 saves). NASHVILLE (60-59, 3.5 games out): Highlighting the Sounds attack are 3B Aramis Ramirez (.341-32-86), C AJ Pierzynski (.329-9-83), 2B Brent Abernathy (.288-17-76), LF Brad Wilkerson (.296-7-55) and RF Ben Grieve (.276-7-55). Leading the staff are : Randy Wolf (11-6, 3.24), Aaron Myette (12-7, 3.70) and Chad Harville (23 saves). OKLAHOMA (58-62, 17.0 games out): The RedHawks aren't a contender...yet. They're in the midst of a solid conversion to Western League contender that has seen them lose 91 games last season to flirting with .500 this season. Playing in the toughest division in the TSTBL (.559 division winning percentage) has overshadowed the advancements of the organization. The almost overnight conversion from a laughing stock to a solid franchise on the move is being lead by: 3B Eric Chavez (.275-19-77), 2B Jose Ortiz (.248-27-82), C Ramon Hernandez (.263-24-72) and RF Gabe Gross (.303-6-40). The Hawks pitching staff is lead by: Tony Armas Jr., Tim Redding, Rick Ankiel and Kelvim Escobar (a league-leading 34 saves). ROCHESTER: (52-69, 25.0 games out): A true fixer-upper...but not without the building blocks. Heading the RedWings line-up are: Samuel De Los Santos (.335-6-32), Corey Patterson (.324-22-86), Carlos Macia (.273-28-88), Jason Tyner (.350-0-38, 49 SB), 2B Marcus Giles (.249-20-62), 3B Garrett Atkins (.248-19-67) and SS Bill Hall (.271-6-41). Their pitching staff is headed up by Adrian Burnside, Dewon Brazelton, Justin Duchscherer and Scott Linebrink. Two of the top 8 pitching prospects in the league are Rochester property. This league sims 3 nights a week (Tue, Thur, Sun) and has never missed a sim. The owner's participation is good and they have a say in how they want their league to be run. If you'd like to inquire about one of these four franchises and get off to a running start to get a feel for your team prior to the offseason preceding our third season, drop me an e-mail. |

I joined a few weeks ago, and the league is GREAT....And I say that while I have one of the worst teams in the league Edmonton at 46-73. The league is ran well, the COMMISH is on top of his game, if you are interested we could use 4 quality owners!!

I concur with bigsmooth. This is a great league. Website is simple yet nice and clean. Not ugly and obnoxious like some I've seen. The commish is very reliable and hasn't missed a beat yet. All in all, it's a very enjoyable league. Now, some of you guys get in there and start beating Colorado Springs for me (I'm Las Vegas). I've got the 3rd best record in the entire league and I'm still 4 games out of first!

I've been in this league since it opened and its GREAT. I'm in other leagues, but this one is so different because of the young players small divisions, and overall equalness of the teams. The drafts are filled with great players and this allowed a few good drafters to turn their teams around.
This league is all about the GM. No one is stuck with a poor fan base or a small market. No one is stuck with a bunch of overpaid veterans. Its just a lot of fun... |

Hello everyone, I'm Chris.
I participate in the TSTBL as J. L. Andercen, president and general manager of the Portland Beavers. I have been taking part in the league since half-way through the first season, and have enjoyed my time with the TSTBL very much. For the most part, our current owners tend to be quite courteous, as well as dedicated to the league. I don't say this to simply try to promote the league- the owners that I have had communication with (usually in the form of trade-talks) have been very kind, as well as fun to speak with. When you truly enjoy something, and have an interest in it, dedication merely displays itself as an effect. Instead of trying to blindly hype our league, as I'm sure happens often around here, I'll give you some examples of why the TSTBL has been, and will continue to be, so enjoyable for me. - The commissioner, Mr. Brent Kick, is very enthusiastic and helpful, quick to respond to e-mails and message board posts. His spirit and attitude make the league a great place for both beginners and veterans. He is also quite mature and professional, and has not even taken a team in the league, so as he can better devote his time to the owners. - I believe that we are currently in the process of expanding and revising our set of rules. We already have some interesting and practical rules in place that are geared toward the fact that our league is in its infancy. - I was able to make five separate deals prior to the trading deadline this year, including one three-way blockbuster. I can't say that I have always received timely responses from onwers I have mailed trade proposals to, but the successes that I have had have been excellent. It took a myriad of e-mails to negotiate a couple of the mentioned deals, which was particularly exciting. There are a number of owners who I know I can rely on, which makes the entire transaction process lax yet exciting. - As Driver 8 (the commissioner) mentioned, we have never missed a sim. The sim-schedule is practical, and it's fairly routine as to when the league file is posted. - The site and message board are clean and easy to navigate. I would say that they're anything special, but they're practical, and get the job done. I enjoy the league as it is, but it will only be more enjoyable once all the teams are occupied by active owners. In turn, this will only motivate the other owners to be active. Having computer-controlled teams is not particularly conducive to transactions in general, nor does it lend itself to competition. My division is currently being led by a computer-controlled team, and I wouldn't want to see it enter the post-season. With three more dedicated owners (welcome to Rochester's new owner, by the way), the TSTBL could start to become truly great. There are few things more magical in the world of simulated/fantasy baseball than an active and complete league. I hope to see you there. Whether you're a novice baseball fan or a hardcore stat-tracker, the TSTBL has a place for you. Come visit us at http://www.bkick.com/tstbl/main.htm, or at http://tstbl.suddenlaunch.com/ (the message board). If you have any questions, please just ask. -Chris/J. L. Anyone insterested in Oklahoma? The last available team in what will be a full league. Plus, you get Eric Chavez, one of the top third basemen in the game.
