Is OOTP 9 going to be compatible with 6.5?

(wasn't really sure where to post this)

At some point, you just have to move on.

Then your 6.5 league is messed up somewhere... importing works like a charm usually.

hmm well i cant even get to be able to import. If i go to Custom league and then hit the Import 6.5 league button, it just comes up with an error and closes ootp. Or if i go to the Main screen and try from there, as soon it gets through loading the databases, it crashes. I used to be able to import in 2006, but since 2007, it wont open the window where i choose the league.

I tried reinstalling, dunno whats causing it.

Qrusher, if you post your league file to our FTP site, I'll see if I can get someone on the beta team to give it a whirl! (Instructions for that in the FAQ forum)

I have not played OOTP in some time, however I would like to get back into it. I think my current version is 6.12. Was always happy with it but would like to get it to the most current with all the new features. Do I have to upgrade to 6.5, then when 9 comes out, import my league? Going from 5 - 6 was seamless, but I'm thinking 6.12 to 9 may not work out so well.

You will be able to import directly from 6.12 to OOTP 9!

Great--now here is the bigger question. On the import, do I lose league history? It seems in some posts about OOTP8, this occurs, however I've seen mention that there are some utilities I would have to download in order to bring the history over.

Nothing has changed in regard to the OOTP 6 import process, so you could safely research on the boards or in the OOTP 8 manual what information you may lose during conversion!

OK. Downloaded demo verison of OOTP8, just to see if I will like the interface 9 may have. When I tried to import my 6.12 league, it says it can't import a league unless it's at opening day. I'm assuming this means first game of the next season and not the start of the offseason. Am I right with this?

Also, it looks like the league almanac, among other data, won't be carried over to OOTP8. I think there are some threads in this forum that talk about some sites that have programs to convert the 6.12 data so it can be carried over to 8.

Do you do it during the offseason?

That's what I'm trying to find out. The error I get tells me I can't import a league unless it's on "opening day". This is using OOTP 8. Sounds to me like how it sounds--the season's actual first day games are played and not the coach & scout hiring, and free agent signing, periods.

yeah, i uninstalled and reinstalled twice. Tried it on different drives, still does the same thing. If i go to the Main Menu and click on either Import 6.5 or Import 2006, it comes up and loads all the stuff, and gets to the names Database and goes to 100% and then crashes. Also, if i go to Custom Game and go to Advanced mode and click on the 'Import OOTP 6.5 League' button it instantly crashes. I dunno, maybe it doesnt work right on Athlon XP processors? I dunno. I use XP with SP2, so i though it should work. Hasnt worked since ootp 2006.

It might be the Athlon. Stick with Intel.
