Stealing

Is there any trick to stealing? I seem to get thrown out about 50% of the time. I was playing one team, and the catcher had 15/100 arm strength and he was exhausted (5%), when my guy has 98 speed and 120 stealing bases, and 101 base instincts, and he got thrown out a few times by that catcher. I can't seem to be able to steal effectively. Any ideas? Thanks.

The pitcher's Hold Runners rating could be particularly high.
