TBCB 2.5 Database

Hello everyone:

A new feature for TBCB 2.5 will be an on-line database that is accessible only through the game.

In TBCB 2.5, you will have a 'pool' of fighters on your PC that is not directly accessible. From this pool, you will be able to use a filter interface to create a universe consisting of the fighters that you want selected by division, sex and career start. You will also be able to bring new fighters into an existing universe with the filter under the same criteria.

The pool will consist of the fighters in the database at the time you download and install the game but can be updated via the web any time that you wish.

The on-line database will undergo continual updating and you will be able to update your pool at any time. Within a given universe, you can then update from the pool or you may choose not to. You may also do both by un-linking selected fighters from the pool. This will allow you to update from the pool without affecting any of the un-linked fighters. Of course, you can simply never update from the pool as well.

Essentially, there is no longer a 'default database' at least not in the way that we knew it from TBCB 2.0 and earlier iterations.

The on-line database is viewable through an interface outside of the game and currently allows a search by last name or country. Perhaps additional sort / search functionality will be added at a later date.

You can also view recent changes and additions through this interface.

Here is the link to the on-line database interface:

http://tbdata.ootpdevelopments.com/fighterlist.php

The on-line database is just one of the many new outstanding features that Andreas has come up with.

Take care and Merry Christmas to all!

Christopher

Click on "Changelist" to watch the progress
For each fighter record or rating record you can see the history of changes. Changed values are highlighted with yellow background.
Currently the database group added or updated more than 6,000 fighters!
A big thank you to all who are involved in this project!

I took this advice, and I'm quite impressed by the number of fighters and the continuing progress. Thanks to all, including Conn Chris who apparently gets no holidays from this project.

Edit: I checked this list an hour ago, and CC has added half a dozen fighters since then.

In looking over the database I'm confused about one thing. What do the numbers refer to in the style column. I thought that column was Boxer, Slugger or Either. But I find 0, 1 or 2 and I don't find how it relates to Boxer, Slugger, Either. Any help would be appreciated.

There should be the correct text in the web frontend, also for divisions and so on. That's on my list and will be done later.

Hey, Chris, did you guys tinker at all with Larry Holmes? Just curious. I think the vote is split about him here in the community.

I do not believe so.

Despite the differing opinions, I get the feeling that no one here would suggest he's out of the top 20. Just a lot of dissagreement over exactly where he belongs on the list.

I dunno. Holmes barely won that decision over an aging Norton. If either Swessel or Bock had cleaned their eye-glasses and scored one more round for Norton, Ken would've retained his title. Makes you wonder how a big loss like that would've impacted Holmes' career.

A top 30 (maybe 25) all-time list that excluded either of those two would seem sketchy to me. Hard to say what would have been with these things but it's fun to contemplate.

Red face

I thank Holmes is about right with his overall rating but he is one of those that needs 2 prime ratings 1977-79 he was strickly a boxer when he fought Norton after 79 to 83 he then would go either way boxer or slugger also i thank his Hp was to high i drop HP to 6 add 1 to KI 1to PL and drop his 3pt blows by 3 after all most of his stopages was by tko not KO's.Ocasio, L.Jones,LeDoux and so on. Just my 2 cents worth.
