just a manager...
Here is what I'm looking to do:
I like to play with current rosters as a manager, playing individual games. Bringing players up and down the system. I don't want to do the financials but want them in the game. So I know I can set this in the manager settings. But I want to have the final word on trades and signings. So in other words I want a GM to do all the stuff but I want him to consult with me on major transactions. Is this possible. thanks |

AFAIK, this is the best that you can do, although you may want to put yourself in charge of transactions from free agency filing to preseason.

Thanks Yankees - I get a visual too. I guess if I keep the trades under my control and put everything else under the AI, I might get close to it. DO you know the first date of free agency filing?
However a Bill Parcells button would be great. Is there a baseball equivalent to him? |

Looks like a few weeks after playoffs end. In a sim I just ran, playoffs ended October 17 and players filed for free agency on November 9. So if you put yourself in charge at that time, through winter meetings, and at least until most free agents are off the market, or until preseason if you want to be sure, then you will be in charge at that crucial time without having to be bothered with minor transactions during the regular season.
BTW, if you want to be in charge of moving minor leaguers from one level to another, you have to be in charge of Minor League Transactions which can be a pain IMO. Roster Moves controls movement on and off the active and secondary rosters, but not among the minor league levels. |
