What would get you to get OOTP9?

What would get you to get OOTP9? FaceGen (best feature ever?) and the myriad of needed improvements over 2006 were enough for me to get 2007, but I'm not sure about 9. Even in-game graphics, as awesome as they would be, I'm not sure would get me as I rarely play out games. An overhauled financial system would go a long way, I think. Maybe sound; I miss the baseball sounds. I understand there's tonnes of ideas from the suggestions given, but are there any real big things for you?

Let's keep a tally (updated to post 57):
-------------------------------------

will buy regardless: 3 (sandman, ctorg, Solonor)

will buy unless a disaster: 1 (darkenigma510)

re-designed pitcher model where: endurance is not the only determinate of whether one is a starter or reliever (more the # of quality pitch types in pitcher's arsenal); and more control of how relievers are used (less like closer only comes in in a "save" situation): 7 (andymac, TribeFanInNC, LLN, Deft, Russ, kingcharlesxii, Anisoptera)

complete interface overhaul to something more like 6.5 (note, however, that many people argue with so much more it needs to be like the way it is and that people should be more open to adjusting... that said, there probably are ways to improve the existing system like the transaction screen suggestion): 6 (morsemoose, jazzrack, mauboy, Jestor, whizkid1950, The Wolf)

easier to set up a league ("league creation interface that is powerful and robust yet more streamlined, quicker, and easier to use"): 4 (Fallschirmjager, Prodigal Son, andymac, TheWolf)

hits/outs plot chart: 4 (silvam14, starshadow, TheWolf, kingcharlesxii)

more visible rosters on transactions screen like 6.5: 4 (whizkid1950, Solonor, Anisoptera, TheWolf)

sign personnel like we do players: 3 (mikev, TribeFanInNC, Solonor)

incorporate Getch's draft utility or at least make it easier to draft in-game while an online league is going on: 3 (mikev, TribeFanInNC, kingcharlesxi)

fix FA compensation: 3 (mikev, TribeFanInNC, Solonor)

improve file sizes even further like only sending truly updated files (note, however, that some people might not be taking full advantage of the already existing optimization techniques and/or including stuff they really don't need or at least including it more often than they need): 2 (mikev, TribeFanInNC)

fix rule 5 (Solonor argues it is not broken, so which is it?): 2 (mikev, TribeFanInNC)

in-game graphics: 2 (The Wolf, silvam14)

realistic financial system: 2 (chanman, Anisoptera)

try to eliminate need for house rules / improve AI: 2 (Russ, Eckstein 4 Prez)

improvements to Scouting/Minor League Coaches: 1 (Russ)

fix bugs: 1 (Eckstein 4 Prez)

customizeable sim screen: 1 (pseudofool)

better player generation model: 1 (The Wolf)

Universal Binary for the Mac version as the speed difference is enormous, see FM: 1 (jasonditz)

drafts from feeder leagues should only produce a handful of 5 star prospects like AI created draft pools: 1 (Fallschirmjager)

time dependent PbP, not just stuff that could be outputted in any game: 1 (Russ)

H2H: 1 (mauboy)

sound: 1 (Anisoptera)

have teams of all one nationality exist in a multi-national league: 1 (sandman)

more team stuff (like secondary logos, team skins, team HOF, team association when going into the league HOF): 1 (Deft)

include all features 6.5 had: 1 (whizkid1950)

history editor and an editable record book that tracked at least the same stuff that 6.5 did: 1 (Solonor)

a way to work the pitch location option on the broadcast screen: 1 (kingcharlesxii)

huge leap of some sort like facegen: 1 (bonedwarf)

Unless its a complete disaster (which I don't expect), I will likely buy OOTP 9 because I like to support Markus and his endeavors, even if I could "do without" an annual edition.

In-game graphics would be good. A better player generation model would be good, too. I can do without sound, and would prefer that OOTP did, too.

Second this, Heck I would even get excited about a hit chart that plots all hits/outs made on the field.

I'm all for supporting indie developers, but I have limits. Unless OOTP 9 has some huge leap, having only just got OOTP 8, I'm going to skip it. (First one I'll have skipped since OOTP 5.)

Facegen sold me on OOTP 8 pretty much. Would take a feature of that calibre to get me to buy 9.

At this point it would take a re-design of the pitcher model to eliminate the automatic distinction as to whether a pitcher is a starter or a reliever.

The interface is absolutely horrid. Haven't been able to play it since OOTP5 (didn't get 6 or 6.5). 2006 and the 2007 demo is way to menu-ey. Complete interface overhaul for me. I probably won't be buying 2008, as I'm guessing it is going to be the same P.O.S. interface.

Sucks, cause I really enjoyed playing 4 and 5.

You're just overly conservative and will resist change for change's sake.

Go back to being like 6.5 and prior, first of all.

Then H2H.

I will never buy another OOTP game until H2H is implemented for career play in an online league.

I will purchase the game but there are a few things that I would like to see. The main thing for me is to have teams in a league that have players from a teams nation. I would like to add Japanese teams to a US league and have all Japanese players on the team. I would like to control the nationalities of the players on any given team. Ideally I would like to see it sort of like how Dave Williams Originator was but by team......

I think I've mentioned about doing that within the database structure in the suggestions - there's a whole load of settings that can be moved down a level (ie game -> league, league -> team, team -> player) and add to the realism.

I place a vote for redesigned pitcher modelling - the 'you are a MR coming out of high school' deal is pretty unrealistic. Sandwich picks for the entry draft is a pretty big deal too in my estimation, although only a small part of the overall OOTP equation.

The pitching model annoys me quite a lot too. There are tons of relievers who have the endurance to start, unlike in OOTP. There's also the use of relievers that bothers me - the pitching roles are not well adapted to optimal use of relievers. I couldn't care less about a closer, I'd rather have my star reliever in a tied 8th inning than in the 9th leading by three. And, there's no way to do that. I find it annoying especially because situational strategies are so deep, yet... pitcher usage isn't.

Pitcher modeling is the biggest gap in the game at this point.

H2H would be great but not a necessity.

I think team based stuff would enhance online leagues (like secondary logos, team skins, team HOF, team association when going into the league HOF)
