Save and sim hang-ups

I have 3gz dual core processor, 1 gb memory, ATI x1950, running XP media center ed. I,m running a 16 team league with AAA, AA, A, and coll and HS feeders. I'm not managing a team yet. The game sim a few days hang-up for 1-2 min sim a day or two and hang-up again. The game uses 3-4% of my processor and 7-9% of my memory. It also hangs-up on saves. it will get to 73% in 10 sec. but then sit there for 5min. not processing anything. it doesn't crash gives no error messages. Help please my last thread never went through it was much more in dept. what could be causing this? I don't have virus scanner running. I would like to run a much deeper league at a much more reasonable time.
