Add/Edit Manager Problem

In my online league I am logged in as under commissioner mode. I have an old owner who is rejoining the league. This old owner is not assigned to a team (i had previously resigned him from the team).

But when I go into add/edit manager it will not let me assign him to a new team. The team selector is greyed out. There is an open team so I dont know why it will not let me edit the manager.

I can add a new manager and assign him to the open team no problem, though. When I log in as the old owner and go to Available Jobs, it tells me I cannot apply for a job unless I'm in commissioner mode.

Any ideas?

What password do you use to log in as the old owner? Can you log in using the commissioner password? Alternatively, can you temporarily set the old owner as a commissioner and have him join the team, then remove him as an commissioner?

I'm not sure that that would be the easiest way to go about it, but I'm guessing rather than speaking from experience here.

I log in as commissioner under my username and password and go to add/edit.

No progress. I just gave up on it and had to create a new user name, which is dumb for a guy that was already in the league.

Here's how you do it (it took me a minute to figure out, which, given that I did a ton of online testing for this game, means it was ridiculously obtuse):

1. Log in as the manager in question (the Commish password lets you log in as any GM).

2. On the Manager Options screen, check Play in Commissioner Mode (again, you'll need to enter the Commish password to do this).

3. From the Manager menu, select the Available Jobs screen.

4. Click on "Apply as GM" for the franchise you wish him to (resume) running. The "application" will be accepted automatically/instantly.

5. Once he's assigned to the team, go back to the Manager Options screen and uncheck Play in Commissioner Mode so that he doesn't try to usurp your power in a season or two.

really weird but I can log in as the owner with the commish password, but the commish password does not work once I click "Play in commissioner mode".

OK that's just plain weird. I'm throwing stones in the dark at that one, but maybe try changing the Commish password itself first of all, especially if there are any highly unusual characters in it?

I can't think of any reason why that would happen, honestly.

there are no weird characters, all lowercase letters. I must have tried it 20 times making sure I typed each letter deliberately. I'll try it again with a new password.

I would have to confirm with someone else that they can't do this (the password thing). If it works for you and not for me I have no idea why.

I've changed passwords and it just doesnt work when it asks me for the commissioner password.

I "upgraded" to OOTP8 today, perhaps that will fix the problem. I'll report back.
