Barry Bonds:Career In Review

Barry Bonds some think of him as one of the best players of all time, some think of him as no more than a steroid taking jerk, but no matter how you feel about him, he is the All time Homerun king,in this dynasty i will rewind all the way to 1984 when Barry was drafted by the pittsburgh pirates at the age of 19. I will cronicle his career in a story type setting

Barry Bonds a 19 year old out of Serra high school is all set for the 1984 major league baseball draft, he is with his father bobby who has recently retired himself from the diamond, his godfather Giants hero willie mays and a few of his coaches from serra.The draft was set to start at 1 PM

12:45:Barry checks his phone line numerous times to make sure its working so he can get the call informing him that hes been drafted

12:58:Barry gets a call from his agent Al Vittori to inform him that the Pittsburgh pirates are interested in him with the first pick in the draft

1:03:The phone rings, every person in the room hearts stop with nervousness

"Hello"

"Hello this is Harding Peterson the General manager of the pittsburgh pirates and we would like to inform you that we have selected you with the first pick overall in the 1984 major league baseball draft"

"really?"

"yes sir"

"Thank you sir"

"No problem barry, report to the spring training complex on the 25th of febuary"

"Absolutely sir"

"See you then Goodbye"

"goodbye"

Spring training has ended and Barry is standing around with john smiley who has became good friends with barry, they are waiting to hear their assignments

Bonds,Barry-starting Leftfielder batting 6th for major league team

smiley,John-Triple A indianapolis

Barry and John say their goodbyes as john gets ready to catch his plane to Indianapolis with a few other guys, bonds however stays right where he is and is issued a locker.

Barry takes the field for the first time ever in the major leagues,he goes 1 for 3 in his debut in his debut, it was the first of many pirates losses

After April 10ths game the pirates are 4-3 and Barry is 10 for 20 with the secomd best average in the league

April 11th Barry is moved up to the 3rd spot in the order

april 16th Pirates are 5-7 and Barry is 15 for 32 with the best average in the league, he also is known as the Walk man already having 12 walks, he also has ripped his first and second home runs already

john smiley is IN THE MAJORS as a reliever for Pittsburgh

Bonds down to 5th in the order as the pirates attempt to help their team as their 4 games back

July 3rd

Bonds is slumping,batting .252 with 7 homers 32 rbi`s 13 stolen bases

The Pirates have daken a MAJOR drop they are 54-63 barry isint helping the cause much with a .256 batting average he does have 10 home runs

August 16th

BARRY IS TRADED to where else SAN FRANCISCO giants for jeffrey leonard and some minor leaguers

September 1st

11-44 so far for san fran
106-376 overall for both teams

12 homers 55 rbi`s 14 sb

SEASON END

134-517 .259 14 Homers 74 rbi`s 18 stolen bases and is three walks away from having the most walks in the majors

nice start to his career despite the bad average

Bonds is sent to AA after having a .194 average in a month in the bigs this year

5 homers 1 rbi`s and 26 walks

In July Barry finished what could be his final AA stint

FINAL NUMBERS FROM AA- 85-253 .336 19 HR 58 RBI 66 BB 28 K

August 1st MLB numbers 32-131 .244 10 HR 25 RBI 33 BB 25 K
barry has done much better since he returned to the bigs
