ATH - Owners Needed:

Around the Horn Baseball League is currently looking for 3 GMs for the following teams – Washington, Kansas City, and Seattle. We may be looking for more soon as a few team owners have not responded to roll call. The ATH was established way back in 2003 and we are currently beginning our 2021 off-season.

Free agency will begin on Wednesday, 10/24 with the Amateur draft beginning on Friday, 10/26. So, get in ASAP... Participation can be as little or as much as your schedule would allow but we ask that you make your team into a good and competitive team. Here is a brief overview of the available teams:

Washington Nationals – A rebuilding team with lots of youth and very solid prospects. The Nationals ended the 2020 season with a 60-102 record but with a few key pickups, this team could make some noise sooner than expected… This team has several solid young pitchers – 23 year old SP Malone (10/4/7), 23 SP Russ (10/8/9), SP Rodrigues (5/7/7) and some young hitters 22 year old LF Butler (.347 avg), 26 year old 3B Persinger (.326 avg), and 24 year old 1B Braud (.289) and let’s not forget super prospect 1B Hutson sitting in AAA. And this team is in a very good financial situation.

Kansas City Royals – Another rebuilding team who had a rough season ending up 51-111. This team will be a big challenge for any new team owner. However, the team is in a good financial situation so could make some noise in free agency. There is some solid talent in the minor leagues but they are a year or two away. Here are a few solid players - 25 year olds SP Hutchinson and Keesee, 2B Buss (.269/25/75) and CF Scott (.305/30/89). It won’t be easy to turn this team around. Are you up to the task?

Seattle Mariners – Yet, another team rebuilding that was hit hard by injuries all last season and ended up with a 50-112 record. This team actually has some very solid players. Their not as financially set as the other two teams but should have some money to work with in the off-season. This team has two solid SPs in Brown (8/8/8) and Bonilla (6/8/7). The team is loaded at C with Valido (5-stars), Batiste (.267/15/83), and Sachs (IR last season)… This team also has a stud in SS Mose who hit 36 HRs and had 102 RBIs. This team needs some work as well but has some players that can be dangled in trades.

This is a very solid league that both Brian (AtlantaGM) & Carl (OaklandGM) have been running for some time now. Currently, this season, I will be taking over the sim duties as Brian deserves a break after dealing with this for years. He will still manage the Braves and provide overall guidance in the league. Don’t hesitate to join this league.

I'd like thank Darrell for taking over for me. This has been one of my favorite leagues for a long time. Since I got married back in October its just been harder and harder to run a league the way it should be taken care of. ATH has been around since March of 2003...so it is not like we are a fly by night operation.

I'd like to add that ATH uses OOTP 6.5 (although 6.12 will work for GMs). The best time join is now. Final contract extensions will be processed Saturday...and then the start of a new season begins. If you get in now...you'll be able to have the most control possible for your new team's future in the coming season.

BTW...the Nationals are a contender waiting to happen IMO. They've got the youngsters to build around..just need someone to fill in the holes and you should be good to go...at least IMO.

Update... Kansas City has been taken... But, we have had a few more teams open up... Here are the available teams:

We just flipped over the league file and we will be starting free agency on Wed. 10/24 and the rookie draft will begin on Fri. 10/26... So, now is the best time to get in so that you can begin working on your team.

The Tampa Bay Devil Rays are now open.

This team has been a contender the past two seasons winning the divison 2019 and winning 95 games last season finishing 2nd but winning the AL Wild Card.

We're in the Ammy draft part of the offseason and really want to get these teams filled by opening day. Just contact Darrell (Greenbo1) if you are interested.
