Lets see if you have a scouting mind. This is not a poll because I want to hear reasons.

Ok, you are the top scout for an NFL team, and the coach comes to you and tells you he wants you to go watch a few defensive ends this weekend. The defensive ends play on one team. So you get to the game and you watch the three play.

Are the players.

Here are the plays you witness:

#79 gets knocked down by the left tackle but then he gets back up and continues through the play.
#89 gets knocked down by the left tackle then goes and complains to the ref.
#99 gets knocked down by the left tackle then just lays there.

What would your advice be to the coach on which player to draft?

#79 without a doubt. He plays until the whistle is blown. #89 is a whiner and #99 is lazy.

Maybe #99 plays more aggressively, so that's why he just laid there after getting knocked down. His aggressiveness caused him to get hit harder.

Maybe #89 is the most intelligent in knowing the rules of the game, and he's complaining to the ref because he saw something illegal take place.

If I was a scout, I'd want to see more than one play from a player to make a draft recommendation. If this is all I saw... I'd draft the left tackle.

I have seen this one before. If you pick #99, you just decided to abort Franklin Roosevelt. #89 is Churchill, and #79 is Hitler.

Oh oh! You pick #99 because he's smart conserving his energy for the next play! He's probably already out of this one so he might as well save it for the next and you don't want to complain to the ref as that will just make him look to call a penalty on you later in the game. Hah, you can't fool me.

If I only saw those plays, there is no way I could draft #79, #89, or #99. I'd advice the coach to look for free agent DEs.

What he said. If you're a DE and you got knocked over, by the time you get back up the play will likely be past you already and you'd just be wasting your energy trying to get back into the play.

I would have to draft the Left Tackle. He has put the three players I am scouting on their arses. That player would have to be the most impressive.

The people who picked the left tackle would have been hired. That is a question that the Jaguars have been asking their scouts at the end of interviews for the last 10 years.
