Starting at 1901, should I turn on financial?
I'm just wondering because I saw a player sign an extension. Is that normal? Or should I just turn it on when Free Agency hits?

I keep it on, because with the financial system, you still have to take budgets and players salary into account. I don't see why extensions would be an issue.

The only drawback to using financials with historical play is that the average salaries for players are completely unrealistic. They're far too high. If you can accept the lack of realism, then turn finances on or spend some time to adjust the figures yourself. If you import the financial settings automatically, you'll end up with salaries that are far too high for each era.

I noticed that too with the extensions. I thought they made it possible to have a realistically salary figures in any era. Oh well.
Thanks.

You can set realistic salaries, but you have to do the research and change the settings yourself. The automatic historical financial settings simply aren't true to real life. They're better than playing with modern day settings, but they're still far too high compared to the real salaries of those times.

There are also a few issues regarding how the financial model works in the game. |

We know what guys like Babe Ruth, Jimmie Foxx, Mickey Mantle, and many other top players made in various decades, and we know that they were the best paid in all of MLB. So, at the very least, we know what the maximums should be. There is also an excellent source of information that covers 1920 to the present day at http://eh.net/encyclopedia/article/haupert.mlb |
