Pitch Count as related to Injury

Question about the pitch count. I have a thrower with a 10 in endurence (10 scale) & it seems as though he is injuried a lot. He is in his third full season & has had 1 season ender & stayed healthy the entire year until his final start last season & got hurt d2d 2ce & then was out for the playoffs. All in 3 sucessive starts. He averages 120 pitches a start & is one of the top 2 or three SP's in the league.

??? If I limit his pitch count to get him to not get hurt so often? He throws a lot of complete games. I think he almost has 30 already in just 3 seasons.

He may just be injury-prone; you could check by going to his Editor window (need to be in Commissioner mode- then open his Profile and click the Editor tab). Injury proneness ratings are on the left-hand side, if you scroll down.

The game does, apparently, use Pitcher Abuse Points in its injury model, but I don't know exactly how they are used, and in particular, I don't know how Endurance is factored in. The idea behind PAP is that pitchers become significantly more likely to be injured if they pitch when already fatigued; mechanics break down, putting additional strain on the arm. The first 100-110 pitches a guy throws aren't nearly as dangerous as the pitches he might throw after reaching 100-110. So imposing pitch count limits in OOTP should, at least in theory, reduce the risk of injury- not only because your pitcher will pitch less, but also because he'll throw fewer 'risky' pitches. I don't know that anyone has tested this fully to see just how much pitch counts help to reduce injury, though, so the effect may not be that noticeable. If you do impose pitch count limits, I'd be curious to know if they seem to help.
