Two (related?) minor league awards bugs
Latest patch, standard modern-day full minors/majors universe:
Strange things happened with my AAA 'Pacific Conference' pitcher award this year. First, the stats don't print correctly in the news message (they are all 0), which is something I've seen several times before. Second, the pitcher who won the best pitcher award only pitched 4.2 innings in the league over the entire season- a 144 game season. Surely that can't be right?! I'm wondering if the game used his Major League stats (which were very good) when determining the award recipient. The player was in the Majors, in the playoffs in fact, at the time the award was granted. Screenshots below; note that since I'm playing Colorado, the AAA affiliate (Colorado Springs) has the same abbreviation 'COL'. The profile view shows just how few innings he pitched in AAA, though. |

dola,
Just to add, this is the award selection made by the AI; I've never used the 'Manually select award winner' option. |

I can, but I understand the ftp server is down today, so I'll try tomorrow. I've simmed forward a few years, so if that's an issue, I won't bother.
I've noticed something odd that may be related. This league is built off of a template, which is based on the 'Standard MLB League' that comes with the game- i.e. a 30-team league with complete minors. The AAA PCL is the only minor league which has two subleagues, like the Majors. The subleagues are called the 'American Conference' and the 'Pacific Conference'. So far, so good. However, both are given the same abbreviation: 'AC'. I think this confuses the game. If I go to the PCL league history, the first page, which lists all of the championship winners, is presented just like the Majors list, with two columns, one for each subleague. However, the right-hand column is completely empty; only the left-hand column has teams in it, and only half of the teams are in bold (i.e. half of the teams listed didn't even win the championship; they lost in the final series, something I've confirmed for the 2018 season). I've attached a screenshot. Note that in the far right, it says 'PC', but it did say 'AC' up until a minute ago- I changed the abbreviation in Game Setup to see if I could 'magically' retrieve the missing history- no luck. When I go to the Awards section of the PCL History, there are 'American Conference Awards' and 'Pacific Conference Awards' links, but both lead to the same page. The pitcher Stafford I mentioned above isn't listed as the Best Pitcher for 2014 (though the award is in his player history), I'm guessing because the Awards list only contains the awards from one conference. The PCL certainly gives out 2 different Best Pitcher and Best Batter Awards each year, one for each subleague- I've checked the end-of-season news to confirm- but only one is listed in the League History. All this is a long way of saying that I suspect the fact that the same league abbreviation 'AC' is used for both leagues is causing the PCL League History to be recorded incorrectly, and the abbreviation is stored in the MLB-standard league file that ships with the game (unless somehow I managed to change that, which seems very unlikely). Anyone could verify this just by creating a new game based on a 'Standard League', choosing 'Major American League', then immediately exiting the wizard ('Advanced Mode') and looking at the PCL league structure. The fact that my pitcher won a best pitcher award may not be related to this, however, but it is making researching the league history difficult. I can ftp the files tomorrow if it would still be helpful. |

dola,
Thinking about it, the issue with my pitcher receiving an award might be related to TT 3769 (no min IP requirement for All Star Game), which is claimed fixed for the next patch, so perhaps this isn't a problem that needs any further attention. The duplicate subleague names should probably be fixed though. |

Apologies, this thread is turning into a bit of a mess. I started a new league, changed the names of the PCL subleagues, and the history is still wrong- I can still only see half of the awards, and only one of the two teams who played for the championship. So I'm not sure how that can be fixed.

None yet- haven't had much game time recently. I do expect the issue arises because of a faulty template/quickstart that ships with the game, specifically the issue redsoxford brought up in his post, linked above. I will try building a league from scratch to see if the issue crops up, but I'll create a new thread if I see a problem- you can close this one out, because the likely issue has been better described by redsoxford.
