C. Caballero wins a very close fight - Judges cards of Caballero 116-110 are crazy....

Fight could have wen to Lacierva with no huge protest from me.......Caballero did well late.....

I had it a draw. The judge who had it 116-110 was definitely smoking something. I thought Lacierva won the first half of the fight and Caballero came on strong in the second half and probably eked it out at the end.

Vazquez TKO6 . . on one hand hard to say quick stoppage since Marquez had been down and eaten some big shots, but he was still punching.

Either way, both guys are going to need a lot of time to heal. Great fight for sustained action, and both guys were bloody and bruised after 2-3 rounds.

If there is a No. 3, I wouldn't think it would be good for either guy if it happened within six months.

Fight of the year Marquez Vs Vasquez!! - Damn what a good fight!

Vaz TKO 6th (perhaps a little early stoppage???).

Here comes a great rubber match! Let's hope Vasquez gives Marquez an auto-rematch as well.....

Marquez/Vasquez II has to be one of the greatest fights I have ever seen. Even though the stoppage was a little premature, both guys went to war and were bloodied and bruised by round three. Outstanding effort by both guys and Vasquez showed he has plenty of heart after being criticized for a lack of it in the first fight.

Bring on Marquez/Vasquez III!

Looking at it again....Yeah, the stoppage is a little too quick. Without a doubt...the Ref should have given Marquez a little more time before stopping it.....

Hell of a fight,.....Definitely looking forward to the rubber match. Give each man a 6-8 month break before doing this again.....

I'll take Marquez in the rubber match -

Ok . . had time to cool off, relax, see some of it again.

Agree with what's been posted, a tremendous fight, one of the best I've seen in a while.

The stoppage? If it was quick, I think it was hair quick, not a . .holy cow, what the hell is he doing . . kind of thing.

Marquez had been down, stumbled 20 seconds before (on a ring logo? I'm not sure and maybe the ref wasn't either), had just eaten a huge shot and was doubled over. Not the worst thing I've seen. I would have liked to have seen it go on just for selfish reasons (although I think Marquez was toast).

That was just f'n violent.

I say Marquez wins a rematch as well. No matter how it ends, it will go down as an all time great trilogy. For fourteen rounds (both fights combined) both Marquez and Vasquez have fought to the brink and brought the best out of each other. Anyone who thinks boxing is dead should watch these two fights.

I was a little disappointed Marquez lost. There's not a whole lot of Bantamweight champs who move up and do well after holding the Bantamweight title for a while. I thought Marquez could be the exception and hold onto the title for several defenses. There's definitely going to have to be a third fight. I think the result in this fight would have been the same. This was just Vasquez's night.

I wouldn't want to put money on who would win a third matchup between these guys.

Nice war. Round 3 by itself was worth the price of admission. From the damage to their faces, it looked like both fighters had gone a full 15.

Personally, I didn't think the stoppage was controversially premature. Marquez appeared done for & the few punches he was throwing back didn't look as if they had anything on them. Given how hurt he was, how much time there was remaining in the round & the fact that he was getting nailed with the uppercuts and lefts all night, I think the stoppage was reasonable.

Had I been the ref, I probably would have let it go on a little longer, but I have no problem with the call.

Here's hoping for a trilogy.

What a great fight ... I'll go against the grain and say it was not a quick stoppage at all ... when Marquez moved off the ropes and stumbled backwards towards that corner he was absolutely out of it. He lives to fight and lives period because he didn't take 7 to 8 more punches that would have finished it anyways. When a guy is that hurt early is better than late. The way he stumbled reminded me a lot of the way Burgos stumbled against Darchinyan.

You can throw out whatever names you want when you talk about heart, none of them have anything on Vazquez. From the Jhonny Gonzalez fight where he was down twice, to the fights with Larrios, to these two. But like I've said before warrior and heart are only used when you get hit a lot.

Caballero is a joke .. he should get as far away from Marquez or Vazquez as he can. FWIW I had it 115-112 as I thought Caballero won the two rounds in the first 6, and Lacierva only won one of the last 6. Throw in the penalty point and you have 115-112. Ugly fight though. Ref had his hands full. 116-110 was a joke.

The stoppage certainly shouldn't take away from the great fight....(but it seems to be some with much of the reporting)....

I've watched the stoppage several times now.....And if Marquez was a young fighter, a no-hoper type fighter....I'd agree the stoppate was fine....But he was the champion, one of the Top 10 P4P guys.....He deserves to go out on his shield.....or at least knocked down again......

It was an early stoppage......But it was stopped with the best of intentions by the Ref........I think the Ref showed his hand as well....In post fight interviews I've seen.....He's basically admitting that perhaps it was a little quick.....

Both camps said a third fight will take place early 08 - Which means good rest for each man.....and likely neither will take a fight prior to meeting each other again......Good deal....

As for C. Caballero - He didn't look in top form last night - (with some credit of that having to go to Lacierva) - But I can say, having seen 6 of Caballero's fights....That was the worst I've seen him look.......(I think he has been reading way too many of his press clippings of late).

Me and my stepdad watched both fights last night and agreed that Marquez and Vasquez are the top two JFW's in the world. We also concurred that Caballero is #3 but the skill level that Marquez and Vasquez showed last night and in the first fight proves that they are in a league of their own. Caballero would not last five rounds with either guy.

You just can't ask for anything more from two guys who got on their shield twice and gave everything the fans would want in a boxing match.

Great Great fight, I was rooting for Vazquez to win just so we could get a third fight. The stoppage might have been a little quick but it was nothing to horrible at all.

They way he stumbled backwards I think we should be thanking the ref for giving us a third fight ... 10 more seconds and there might not of been another Marquez fight, let alone a third fight.
