Game Crashing/2.02 Patch on OSX Problem
I just installed the original 2.01 "Try and Buy" Demo on OS X a few days ago Twice I would get to the same point in my season(about 20 games if I remember correctly) and it upon finishing a day it would randomly say, "Generating Picture Gaby Hernandez" and immediately crash.
I then downloaded the 2.02 Patch and installed it. Now when I click on the file to start OOTP the startup screen flashes quickly and shuts down. If someone can fix my problem, thank you! If not, is there a way to go back to the 2.01 file without rebuying the game? Thanks1 |

I'm right there with ya. A prompt response from a moderator or a refund would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks guys. |

I am having the exact same problem. I bought the pre-patch Try and Buy and worked like a charm for me for several seasons before the league crashed. After the crash, it seemed to be an ideal time to install the patch but now the game won't start. The icon bounces, the monitor flashes and then we're back to the desktop.
System: OS 10.4.8 1.5 Ghz Power PC G4 512 memory So, is it a patch issue? And if so how do we go back to the pre-patch version without having to register it again. -Scot |

I too would love for the game to simply revert back to the previous version, but I'd love even more for the patch to work. If the patch doesn't work, I'm afraid I'll have to ask for a refund. I was having quite a few headaches with the unpatched version because it kept unwontedley readjusting my lineups.

You guys might want to try uninstalling and reinstalling the game fresh.
You only pay for the game once. You don't have to re-enter your account info if you uninstall and reinstall, because the data should still be kept on your computer. |

First, can I recommend, in the gentlest possible way, that you search the forums before posting a tech question. The common issues will all have been reported here before. Searching for 'Mac patch issue' brings up, first link, a description and solution to the issues you're having with the Mac patch; this particular issue has come up many times in the past. A forum search would save you waiting and frustration!
In any case, there are two possible solutions: -when I patched (on Mac), I didn't point the patch directly to the game, only to the drive containing it. This produced a new icon, which looked like an OOTP application file, but which caused a screen blink and revert to desktop when double-clicked. When I tried patching again, and pointed the patch directly to the game, all worked fine; -That hasn't worked for everyone, however. If that doesn't work, uninstalling and re-installing will. |

And, to hopefully help with your other issues:
Pavement- I assume you're using CubbyFan's roster set? Mac users (myself included) have had crashes when the pics update in this roster set (and only in this set, for reasons unknown). In Game menu --> Game Setup --> Player + Picture Options, change the update setting from 'Always if Needed' to 'On Jan 1st', and this should help to avoid most crashes. Deleting the faces.dat file from the game's folder might solve the problem completely, but I haven't tried it; Punch- if your lineups are being changed, there are two reasons this might happen. First, in Manager menu --> Options, make sure 'Setting Lineups...' is set to you, not the AI. Second, if you're in Commissioner mode, you may be 'Acting As' a team (menu, top right), and not actually be the GM of your team. You need to get hired- stay in Commish mode, go to the Manager menu --> Available Jobs, and apply for the job you want (you'll get the job). Then, from Manager --> Options, you can leave Commissioner mode. Last edited by injury log; 08-01-2007 at 06:29 PM. |

Thanks injury!
I made sure the patch was going to the right folder but still isn't working. My only worry is if I uninstall, and then re-install, I would still be on 2.01 right? And as far as my other problem thanks! That's gotta be the issue, if only I can get this to start up again.

Just to be clear. Us Mac people don't actually "uninstall" we just chuck things in the trash (unless I didn't get a new terminology memo).
So the question is: Do I just chuck the whole OOTP folder and reinstall and the computer and program will still know that I have a nice legal, registered copy because that information is kept elsewhere or do I have to keep some files or do some other gymnastics to ensure my license is transfered? Or will I just be prompted for my license number again for the reinstall like off-the shelf software-- historically you had a finite number of uses on the license, and since this is the same machine, I don't feel like using 2. -Scot |

I didn't need to reinstall, so I can't offer any details myself. My best advice is to either-
-scroll through the Closed threads in Tech Support. Most threads with the word Mac in the title will be related to this issue (no other problems on Macs, normally!). Just did a quick scan- see two threads from July 27 and one from July 22. You will probably also find more info by using the forum search. There have been several detailed answers elsewhere; -otherwise, I'm sure someone will be along soon to offer more precise info than I can. |

Hi there.
I'm very sorry your issue has sat here for so long without a response. Us volunteers are a little on the burnt-out side right now! That's not an excuse, though, but let's see if we can make some progress, if you're still around after all this time...Everyone has been very helpful in this thread. Much of what I would recommend, they have already recommended. Unfortunately, I don't have a Mac, so it's tough for me to help as much as I'd like here. To be absolutely clear - there would never be a scenario in which uninstalling the game would void your license! So, don't worry about that. Meanwhile, are you still having the issue? Generally, this issue has required a reinstall in the past, and yes, this means reinstalling 2.0.1 and then patching again. Please let me know where things stand, so I can figure out where else I can be of assistance! Steve |

As we haven't heard back on this one in a week, it will be closed for housekeeping reasons. If you need any further help with this issue, please post a link to this thread in Tech Support. Thanks.
