James Jeffries - KO'd
I can't believe Oscar Bonavena just KO'd the reigning champion in my game universe - James Jeffries with a body shot.
It kind of ruins James Jeffries "Iron-Man" image having him go down like that. I guess I'll have to retire him, now. I was moving Jeffries along in my universe, creating a few super-fight scenarios for him. But now... Oh well. Even in a universe that you "run", things do always turn out like you plan

And I agree, TBCB Universes tend to play out just like the real world from time to time...and screw-up assured 'Mega-fights'....with upsets taking place right before they are to be signed to happen.... |

In today's world the "Mega" fight would go on like planned ... See Judah and Morales.

Big Jim had the ultimate "tough-guy" image in real life. Same thing in my universe. A body shot knockout just knocked the universe out of whack. Think of Rocky Marciano getting knocked out in a "tune-up" fight. Things just aren't the same. Even in the gaming universe.
Maybe he'll come back some day. I imagined him leaving the ring getting pelted with ice and cups of beer from the disillusioned fans! Last edited by Jim_Kidd; 07-30-2007 at 10:17 PM. |

Well Oscar was as strong as a bull, but as they say on any given night, If only
it had gone the distance at least there was a chance of winning a questionable decision even on an off night, and we have all seen that happen. Greg

Heh
In my universe, Tyson suffered a TKO 7 (Cuts) loss to Stan Ward in his 15th fight. Greg Page might well stay champ for a hile longer yet!

How about Buck Crouse scoring a one punch knockout of Harry Greb? Buck is rated a 9, but Harry's a 13.

![]() At least with some guys you can imagine the fighter saying, "I lost track of the count," "The ref gave me a quick count" "I hurt my knee and couldn't get up," etc. Guys like Greb though, they'd never come up with those kind of lame excuses. |

Myself i find using the *Go For KO or GAOF KO* leaves one fighter with to much power and the other to vulnerable. I have never liked it and think myself it badly needs refining. Have to say though Jim Trunzo and myself always disagreed on this one.

In the games intelligence, the fighter who loses his endurance always seems to go for the knockout afterward. Sort of a last ditch effort to save the fight. And it's true, they can do a lot of damage and sometimes - that's the round where an upset can occur. |
