Screen Resolution (hoping for easy fix)

Had to reformat the hard drive tonight for the first time in 3 years (virtumonde is a BEAR once it gets on your drive).

I have a small issue. OOPT 07 wants 1024x768 screen resolution, but thats now what I had pre reformat. I was using 800x600 and it launched fine. I have a decent enough graphics card, a 256 MB Geforce 2 with NVIDIA drivers.

Is there a setting I need to change somewhere? When I launch the game it only wants to go up, not down from 1024x768. When I was a kid it wouldn't have bothered me, but it's killing my eyes at 30.

I believe under the 'Game' menu, there is a selection called 'OOTP Preferences' or something of the like. There should be a setting for resolution in that menu. I hope that is what you were asking.

Nah. In that section it only gives me options to increase the resolution. I want the game to play in like 800x600 or less, or just allow me to have windows in 800x600 and the game itself can be whatever it wants.

Mike,

Hi there.

I'm very sorry your issue has sat here for so long without a response. Us volunteers are a little on the burnt-out side right now! That's not an excuse, but anyway...

Unfortunately, I think you may be out of luck in this case. Technically speaking, OOTP requires a minimum resolution of 1024 x 768, so we can't really provide any support for 800x600. This leads me to believe that there is something in your video card's configuration (as jazzrack intimated) that would allow support for that resolution.

You could try this:

1. Set the game to full screen mode
2. Set your monitor resolution to 800x600
3. Launch the game

But, I'm not hopeful about that.

I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Steve

I appreciate the tip. Please don't apologize. I shouldn't need to rely on volunteers for support anyway......

According to the Official OOTP2007 manual (You should read it sometime Steve), the minimum requirements for the game is 1024x768.

Sooo, did it work?

Yah, your second point is another story altogether.

Yeah, I noticed that after I posted, but you did not give a plug for the manual!

As we haven't heard back on this one in nearly a week, it will be closed for housekeeping reasons. If you need any further help with this issue, please post a link to this thread in Tech Support. Thanks.
