Any Patch News?

Any chance we can get an update on the latest patch? No hurry, just curious.

I have been playing OOTPB since OOTP3 and find that regular communication is not one of Markus' strong points.

He has designed a brilliant game.

He puts his heart and soul into it and works ungodly hours, days and weeks on it, but a small thing like regular progress reports and updates, he neglects.

It would be nice, if he would just post a brief weekly...or even a monthly progress report.

Just a few brief lines would keep most of us happy.

I share your frustration, Eugene. More often than not, Markus ignores my direct questions on the beta board. That's unfortunate. Often, I cannot pursue a line of testing until I have an answer. Time goes by. Nothing gets done. I begin to think, "Who cares?'

right...but how many people play xbox or playstation? And of all the games, how many players get direct (or indirect) contact with the designers of the games, or even know who they are?!?!

In my opinin, Markus goes above and beyond what he HAS to do as a game designer.

Yeah, it'd be nice to hear some news...but we're lucky he's even going to DO a patch.

This coming from a beta tester means a lot.

Can someone take Markus aside and have a little chat with him?

Explain that we need some loving and attention from him!

I agree with this. Let's continue to be patient; I have a feeling it will be worth the wait. (Although a quick message would be appreciated, too.)

the ironic thing is that as soon as Markus posts something about the game, people post about how his interaction with the fans is second to none in the gaming industry. they forget about these long stretches of no communication whatsoever and also do disservice to people like Shaun and Clay who are on their boards every day.

Yeah I hear that guy that does the Pure Sim game is on the boards all the time. That's perhaps why Pure Sim suks and many of us are here and playing OOTPBB instead of Pure Sim Baseball. I'd rather Markus not say anything and we get one hell of a quality game than chat chat chat all the time like Pure Sim and well you see what you get with Pure Sim...Pure crud. lol

Hey guys cut Markus some slack. He did indicate that he had some personal health issues. I'm sure that he will make an announcement in regards to the next patch soon enough.

I think your point is absolutely ridiculous.

So you don't like Puresim that's fine but I'm sure there's plenty of people here that do. We should be lucky enough that we have a choice on what baseball game we can play.

If you have issues with PS why don't you help with some positive input to make it better.

Ravinhood, don't put other games and developers down it's in poor taste. You never know PS may one day be your game of choice

It may be the case that Markus is forced to follow Sports Interactive policy. In that case, you will almost never see discussion of a future patch. When the SI development team is working on a patch, there is NO discussion on the forums, and there is never anything stated about a release date. The developers keep quiet until the patch is released.

Very good point. We are very fortunate in that respect.

But just a few lines a week or a few lines a month would be a nice and easy thing to do.

I realize he can't answer all of our questions. There are just too many of them. He doesn't even have time to answer all of my questions, much less the entire OOTPB Community.

There are probably over a 100 beta testers and all of them want answers.

In his defense, Markus can only answer the questions that have a major impact on the game.

I understand that and give him a lot of slack there.

It is really unimportant that Eugene thinks some screens are too cluttered with faded out logos, that long names sometimes don't fit on the leaderboards, that long names and blown saves don't fit on the box score, etc.

But having said that in his defense, Markus could still post a brief progress report weekly or even monthly.

That would win friends and influence people and not take more than five minutes.

It would be good public relations to the reasonable OOTPB members.

For the few, there is no way Markus can please them...no way at all...short of a perfect game.

Hang in there, pstrickert.

I sometimes ask the same question, while dealing with the News Stories.

The Beta Team needs you and tysok to take care of the PBP.

Both of you did a fine job on V2007.

Without you and a hundred other volunteers, the game would be missing a lot.

I am going to hang in there.

Hope you do, too.

Yeah, but didn't you think something might happen when the can you were opening was clearly labeled "Worms"?

Markus is always professional and gracious when he does answer. I have the utmost respect for him. But, like you said, Eugene, it would help if he took a few minutes to provide a brief progress report.
