FA problem
Any help for this?...
I released a player from a team (buying out his contract). I then tried to sign that same player from the FA list for another team. The player (now a FA) lists a specific contract request (i.e. 1year at 125,000). I input the offer but do not get the "SIGN" option on the screen (I tried clicking the blank spot but still nothing). I tried this with other teams, some react the same way (no SIGN option), others get the option to pop up and sign the contract. Any ideas why this would happen? I've never seen this happen before.

Have all of the games for that particular day been played?

I've seen this too. I'm commish of an online league.
After spring training, Cleveland Indians wanted to make offers to 3 free agent pitchers. The first two signed without problem, but the third did not. Offering the exact amount he was asking, or more, but the "blanking" occurred. Other teams were able to sign the guy. |

Yes, all games for the day are played. I've even run another 10 day sim since this happened. It still won't let me sign the player to this one team. It will allow other teams to sign him.
Is this possibly the player saying "I would rather be unemployed, than play for you?" By the way, this is late in the season; now after Sept 1.

In case this helps at all, i've seen this a lot too... But every single time it's been someone i've released from my team earlier.
The only solution to my knowledge, it to trun off financials, sign the guy, then turn them back on... a hastle, but i suppose that's the price of foolishness - i mean why do i keep releasing guys i want on my team?

Is this built into the game? That a player won't resign with a team that cut him?

It seems to be... I've run into it as well.
I'm thinking maybe the cause for it to happen with another team is that perhaps the AI is thinking team A and team B are the same. Did you expand or restructure your league? Maybe theres a bit of code that doesn't quite make the changeover when you did, and thats causing your FA to think, say, the Phillies are actually the Yankees. (or vice versa) I do know that you can't resign a player to your own team after releasing them. Its a PIA when you release someone, then his replacement turns out to be even worse, and you can't sign the guy back. - J

Not the same teams and this is an online league. We have never expanded or contracted.

My team actually couldn't sign any free agents at all, and the way I wound up fixing it was deleting and recreating the team. |

How much money available for FA do the teams involved have? I assume they have enough but it can't hurt to check.

In the case I had, the team had enough money, and was able to sign other free agents. Just not one specific player.
