Error in Version 2.0.1.43
I've scoured the boards and found people have had a problem with the following error message when trying to load a saved game, The loading of the database failed. It is either corrupt or a save-game from an old version.
However, I'm playing this as a simple single-player game, whereas all the solutions seem to be for online games. I'm halfway through my first season and am loathe to lose the game, any suggestions for how I can restore it? The saved game file seems to be in the right place.... |

Could you upgrade to version 2.0.2.53 and see if it is still a problem?
If so, are you having problems with any other saved games? If you aren't running any other leagues, could you try creating one, closing the game, and then loading that new saved game? |

I have no idea if it's just a coincidence, but the other night I experienced that error message for the first time. It happened again when I tried a second time, then I got it to work on the third go around after I closed several other programs, so maybe it's a lack of memory that leads to that problem.

Thanks for the advice Nutlaw, I've updated to the latest version via the patch, and then tried to start a new game then load the original saved game. Looked promising as the game loaded to 100%, but then came up with a message saying that it couldn't be loaded, the database was corrupt.
Very frustratingly, looks like it's back to square one with a new game

Will the new game load up just fine if you try to run it now?
How many leagues and teams are in the saved game that won't open? How many years of history have you simmed? |

Yep, a new game starts without any problem at all.
The saved game was one team in one league and we were only 50 games into the first season, so shouldn't be a memory issue. |

Hrm. Could you try moving the faces.dat file out of the .lg folder of the saved game that doesn't work and see if you can open the game then?
