Wow

It's been one problem after another it seems with this game.

I finally get my league all set up and ready to go and we begin the sim just to have the game crash on us. First game of the season, the game crashes. All lineups are complete, all pitching staffs are complete, and I just can't figure out why this is happening. I did manage the first game though just to see if I could see what was causing the game to crash and I think I did. In the third inning the game just crashed out of nowhere. The first game of the season, which was the only game of the day, Minnesota vs Detroit, crashes every time when you try and sim past it.

So as I was managing the game, the innings took forever because everyone was scoring, and by the bottom of the second, the score was 156-49! WHAT! Minnesota had only batted once and got 49 points. The pitchers were walking 95% of the batters. It was ridiculous. I think it crashed because too many points were being scored or the teams ran out of pitchers or something. I don't know, but this game is really annoying me right now. It's definitely not been worth at all the money I spent for it.

So if someone could please help me out with a possible solution I would appreciate it.

Some info on my league, I use a regular MLB setup with all the minor league systems, scouting off, and waivers off.

Must be a problem with your league totals.

If you're using Cubbyfan's roster set that was designed for OOTP 2006, there's a known issue with the BBs total in the league totals- you'll need to change it. Unfortunately I don't remember what you're supposed to change it to, but there's some info somewhere in the forums about this (possibly Stickied?)- perhaps you can search for it if you need more info.

I can't find this BB total anywhere. Can someone tell me what their BB total is for their league?

Go to Game Menu --> Game Setup --> League Setup --> Strategy and scroll down to the bottom. My BBs total is set to 16222 in my MLB-style fictional league.

Was about to post the same thing just before I read yours. Makes me cringe when people say points.

ok cool, mine is set to 44 with a modifier of 1.000

And I meant I couldnt find a forum with this kind of error on these forums.

Sorry but I don't see why my pitchers would be walking everyone when it's that low? IDK, but your number sounds much better.

Whatever man, I don't think I've ever said 158 runs before. Just doesn't sound right when you are referring to a score.

If someone sprinted past me in a hallway and said "Sheffield knocked in three points," I'd cringe.

That's why they're called Runs Batted In and not Points Batted In.

just sayin'...

Actually, now that I think about it, not many sports use "points." Basketball and football do, but hockey and soccer use "goals," baseball and cricket use "runs," and what else?

Most sports that use points are those that give more than one for an action. Basketball uses points because a basket is worth either two or three points. If it were equal (let's say 2) they could just say "baskets" the way we say "runs".

Other sports use points when the action to win one isn't easily defined by another noun. Think volleyball or tennis.

UGH, that's exactly the problem. The LOWER the number in the League Totals, the HIGHER the number during the games. If you want fewer walks, you need to raise the league total number.

Edit - Or at least it used to be that way. I hardly remember anymore.

Weird how it works, you think it would be the opposite but nah. Thanks for the tip as that was a cause for a crash.
