Questions for MAC players...
So I was to be a PC user, and played OOTP on a PC exclusively in years passed. This past January I got a Macbook (Dual Core, 2 ghz, 1 GB Ram) and I have some questions and hesitations for buying the mac OOTP version.
- First off, how does it run on a MAC? Given my specs, is OOTP going to be a memory hog and will I have crashes/slowdown or other issues? I will probably try to upgrade my RAM to 2 GBs in the near future, is that an absolute necissity? - Do the PC version and MAC version have identical features? Usually the MAC gets shortchanged when there are mutiple versions of the game. Will there be identical future patches and support? - Are OOTP Mods compatitable with MAC? Will I be able to use facepacs, rosters, databases, etc.? - Have any of you ever played the game in Parallels? How does it run...? - Can I play in online leagues with PC users? Or am I limited to MAC only leagues (as if they would exist)? - Also, a much more general question to help me decide if I want the game... Overall, how is the game? I'm sure its been posted a million times but I don't have time to sift through all the articles/threads. Have the waviers/roster issues been resolved? Is the game easier to navigate then the last version? And most impotantanly is the game actually FUN again? or does it still seem like a chore when playing it? Thanks Last edited by BillyMadison; 05-24-2007 at 12:43 AM. |

ive been playing for a couple of weeks now and it has only crashed on me like twice. it does hog memory and slows other programs but it hardly crashes for me. upgrading the ram is not an absolute necessity, i got the same specs as you do. i cant say anything about the online stuff cuz i havent played in any online leagues. the mods are compatible with a mac and i believe the two versions are the same and that macs finally do not get shortchanged

You can play in online leagues with PC gamers.
The game is not multithreaded, if that's what you meant by parallels. I have a G4, 700Mhz, 1Gb RAM, running Panther, and I have no performance issues as long as I'm not running any other programs at the same time. I'm not the one to ask about fun, because I enjoyed the hell out of 2006. |

The fun is back, or that seems to be the prevailing opinion around these parts. Try the demo which gives you 7 months of game time- I always set the demo to an 81 game season starting in February so I could see a complete playoffs and some offseason- and you'll know. |

I am playing the game on the same MacBook as yours, with 1 GB RAM, also. No problems, zero crashes. I always have other applications open, as I play the game intermittently with working on other stuff. At the very least, FileMaker, Safari and Mail, usually more. Sometimes even Photoshop. Beyond that, there will be occasional stalls or slowdowns.
The only caviat to Mac users is that the patches and installers have been quirky. They always find out about it within hours after issuing one, and say they're going to fix it, but never do, and end up recommending that you download the whole application and reinstall. If you have a broadband connection, this works out OK. Overall, the Mac OOTP2007 experience is very satisfying! |

Since the game runs natively on a Mac, I don't really see the point in running it in Paralells, though. |
