Guess I shouldn't quit my day job!

Okay, I've only had OOTP 07 for a couple days, so I'm not very good, but I still think this was a little harsh:

I ran my first historical league and being from San Diego I selected the 1975 Padres. Before spring training started, I had signed Dave Winfield and Randy Jones to long extensions. I'd traded for Steve Garvey and Nolan Ryan and signed them both to long contracts. I got Lou Brock as a short-term addition in the outfield (he was 35 by then).

But most of them were pretty young in 1975 (weren't we all?) and I was in last place from the start of the season. And by June 1 I was fired.

I collected four future HOFers in my first week on the job and I was fired before the All Star break. It made for a pretty funny experience, but shouldn't the AI give you a little bit of a grace period. I think even Steinbrenner would have given me more time than that.

Yes, there is a thread floating around on the General Discussions board about the game (owner) being too quick on the trigger in firing you (general manager) within a few months of starting out or early the next year after a successful season. Much depends upon your manager's reputation, and if you are still rated as "greenhorn" you are liable to get the heave-ho much too soon.

I don't know if this will be tweaked in the next patch. For now, people say that the way to get around this is to play with your manager in commissioner mode. This either prevents him from being fired or enables him to take his job back immediately.
