Is this a bug....

If it is, I'll post in the right forum. I wanted to get feedback first.

I shopped a pitcher around (SP, age 31 overall 80/80) who was to become a free agent and would not negotiate an extension. The angels offered a pitcher who was 31 and 79/80.

It was past the trade deadline, so both had to clear waivers first. On the second day, both players were claimed. I pulled my starter back, but the Angels left there player on waivers. So I placed a claim to see what would happen. The Angels left him there and I won the claim and recieved the player.

Now I know that the easy answer is to not do this ( I jumped in commsih mode and sent him back) but if I did not place the claim, he would have been lost to the other team who did.

I have tried to recreate this, but now nobody is offering anything to trade for my impending free agent.

So the way this is suppose to work, once both players clear waivers then they auto switch teams. But shouldnt the AI pull there player back if it gets claimed/or other player is pulled back?

Was that other player on Irrevocable waivers. If so that would explain it.

Does this rule apply for post deadline trades? I do not believe it does. That is why teams uded to place all their players on waivers when doing these trades, so to confuse teams trying to block it.

Anyway, I made a mngr and put them in control of that team, waived the player and it asked if I wanted to auto pull him back. So I don't think that is it.

With trades, they would have been able to pull them back, if they wanted to. What kind of salary was the pitcher making? When were they eligible for free agency. It could be that the team decided they didn't want the player anymore? Otherwise, not sure why they would have left him on waivers.

There pitcher was actually cheap, very good and signed up for the the next year too. The pitcher I was sending was twice as expensive.

There might have been some morale problems. I am going to try to mess around with this some more. Maybe they did not want him, they were the only team who offered me anything in the shoparound.

Do you guys know off hand if the game recognizes the Sept. 1 deadline for playoff rosters? Because after sept. first there were no takers.
