Has anyone else experienced this problem?

I have posted this already in the technical support forum to get some feedback and hopefully someone will TT it because I think it's a valid problem.
Here it is:
I was playing my 1998 season with the Texas Rangers. Randy Johnson got injured (day-to-day) and his performance dropped like 33% or so and he would be hurt for 1-2 weeks. Normally when something like this happens with a star like Johnson, I just leave him in the starting rotation instead of placing him on the DL.
I started simming some games and noticed that on the schedule screen where it shows all the games for the day, when it was Johnson's spot in the rotation to pitch, there was no name for my starting pitcher. At first I just thought it was b/c he was hurt and they would just go to the next guy in the rotation, which they did. But then after 2 weeks past i got suspicious. I went check my pitchers and Randy Johnson was gone!!!I type his name in the search and low and behold, Oakland had signed him.....IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SEASON!!! He still had years left on his contract, yet he signs with the A's in the middle of the season.
I was a bit pissed, but I switched to Commish mode, went to the trade screen and forced Oakland to trade Randy Johnson back to me for nothing. But this is obviously a bug. I just wanted to let everyone know and to see if anybody else has experienced this. Hopefully someone will TT it if it has not been already (I haven't seen it).

Rather than being a bug, it sounds more like you're allowing the AI to make roster moves for you.

Did you check your team transactions to see if he was released before being signed by Oakland?

I sure did and he was not released. That's the first thing I thought of when I seen it had happened b/c I know some people have been having problems with the AI making roster moves but he was never even released.
