1959 Replay questions

I just don't have the time for all the study I guess is needed for me to setup a basic replay of my fav 1959 season with the White Sox.

I have two setups going with lots of problems.

1. I want to use the real life player pics and thought I accessed them but all I get with the face gen. I turn it off and of course get nothing. How do I get the real life pics?

2. I'm not yelling with the bold print. Larger print helps the old eyes. Is there anyway to increase the size and boldness of the words in the play by play?

3. Does anyone know if OOTP's game engine use of the pitch by pitch is based on real contemporary baseball stats on such data?

4. I only want to manage the White Sox but is there anyway to get the Computer managed teams to setup real life lineups without going in and giving all teams human control until all that work is done? In other words anyplace to import real life lineups/transactions?

Sorry to take your time. I'll keep reading the manual when I have the time. Just thought someone might be able to save me some time or let me know if any of the above can't be done.

Super thanks for your help.

Here's a great site for mods:

http://web.mac.com/sixwilsons/iWeb/OOTPMods/Main.html

Click on the Photopacks tab. Look for Gambo's Photo Packs (if you haven't DL'd them already).

Click on the Mod Installation Help tab. Look for the Facepack Installation instructions. That tells you where to store the player photos.

I'll let others try to help with the rest of your questions. I know you're a big DMB supporter. I hope you'll enjoy OOTP, too. Please feel free to ask any and all questions. We'll do our best to help!

pstrickert...

Thank you for your kind response.

Two things that give me some interest in OOTP are the new pitch by pitch and the players pics and detailed stats etc.

I purchased v4 but didn't see enough realism for my standards. Just thought while I was waiting for the new DMB updates I would give OOTP7 a look. I bought it the first week it came out but haven't spent a great deal of time studying the game.

I'll look into your advice.

Have a terrific day.

Yes,, and if I remember properly it uses retrosheet data going back over the last 40 years, and 1994 specifically in some places.

The lineups will drive you nuts if you are a stickler. I made a feature request last winter to import from baseball-reference.com real daily lineups for the last 45 years, but this was not implemented. Without a great deal of micromanaging, the AI will set its lineups as it wants to.

It will also make trades as it wants to. You will see the Dodgers try to plug their hole at SS, maybe dealing a SP like Roger Craig or Stan Williams for someone that can hit, or maybe the AI will decide to play Maury Wills a whole lot more than 82 games.

Thanks Raidergoo...

Good info about the pitch by pitch data.

Well, I can live with the lineup stuff as long as with WSox games I can go in and change the opponent's lineups.

Thanks and have a good one.

Welcome aboard, I hope you enjoy the game and your time here. I've played and still play DMB for years but just find that OOTP gives me more of what I want in a game.
