Boston Red Sox 2007
Oh, bother. Too much going on with the Red Sox not to have a 2007 thread up. I'm embarrassed to start this 'cuz they ain't my team. Oh, well.
What is up with the Red Sox wearing green unis last night? Saw a pic of this on the front page at ESPN and wondered. |

dola,
Did some reading and found out that the Red Sox honored both Red Auerbach, with the wearing of the green, and the victims of the Virginia Tech massacre, by wearing "VT" patches. And, topped it off with a come from behind win over Rivera and the Yanks. Sweet! |

triola,
A sweep isn't at all unlikely with the Yankees throwing Karstens and Chase Wright to the wolves in the weekend games. |

Beckett will dominate the Yanks tonight. I still think DM will get the W tomorrow (3-1 to the Sox in 9, 3H, 1BB, 12K for DM in 7.1 innings) Beckett will no-hit through 5, and give up two hits in the 6th and no-hit the 7th and 8th with JP coming in for the save - show Blow-Mo how it's done!) |

Okajima and Papelbon look like a good closing platoon.
Pap's given up less hits than Rivera has blown saves so far (and pitched more innings)... |

Those green uniforms were ugly.

Rivera got to a slowish start last year too, IIRC. Don't count him out. But I <3 Papelbon and if Okajima pitches well all season that answers one of the biggest questions this team had on opening day.

Daisuke could be doing better, though.

Very true. A very promising game from Pedroia as well, on both sides of the ball. I was thinking Cora might replace him if he continues to struggle.

I think it's better when Daisuke isn't pitching at his best - when he's pitching great we lose. |

It's nice when a player gets into a groove.
Pap's last three games have all been 1. Got the Save 2. Batters Faced 4 3. Hits Allowed 0 4. Walked 1 5. Struck out 1 6. Ground out 1 7. Fly out 1 and we've got the best record and percentage of all 30 teams now and 5.5 clear of the Yankees
