All I can tell is that this was a one-time anomoly. I have played out hundreds of games and I have never seen anything like it. The most likely reason I could figure out is that I was 2 men over my player limit on one of my minor league teams. It was the first game of a new dynasty and I had forgotten to put the AI in charge of running the minors.
