Golden Age Baseball
League Name - Golden Age Baseball
URL - http://legendsport.com/baseball/gab League Type - Historical Special league rules - GAB is an integrated league, with every Negro Leaguer (not just the stars) added to the player pool, using the Negro League database currently under development (the league is driving the database development) along with historical major leaguers from the Lahman db. Instead of a draft, the league began with complete free agency and in future seasons, a draft lottery containing ALL 20 teams will determine the rookie draft order. # of teams - 20, in two leagues (AL/NL) each with two divisions of 5 teams apiece OOTP version - OOTP Baseball 2007 (converted over from 6.5) GAB began in 1925 with, instead of a draft, complete free agency. The teams consisted of the 16 historical MLB teams, plus four additional teams: the Minneapolis Millers & Milwaukee Brewers from the American Association, and the Baltimore Orioles and Montreal Royals from the International League. The Detroit Tigers won the initial GAB championship with solid pitching and an offense centered around four former Negro League stars: Bernardo Baro, Luther Farrell, Dobie Moore, and Bunny Downs and MLB alums Joe Judge and Joe Harris.

There are currently three openings in GAB:
The Cleveland Indians, New York Giants, and Milwaukee Brewers are available. The Indians finished 2nd to the Tigers in the AL West with 86 wins and feature Jim Bottomley (.361-12-110), Jud Wilson (.332-24-102) and Bingo DeMoss (.315-12-66) among others, on offense and a pitching staff anchored by Earl Whitehill (12-10, 3.38 in an injury-shortened season). The Giants won 85 games and finished 2nd to the Braves in the NL East. The team features Goose Goslin (.288-32-115) and Clarence 'Fats' Jenkins (.311 with 50 steals) on offense and a pitching staff led by workhorse starter Bill Drake who won 22 games with a 3.93 ERA. The Milwaukee Brewers are a promising young team which finished 4th in the AL West, but has a roster stacked with potential. 24-year-old shortstop Glenn Wright is the team's star - he posted a .360 average with 19 HRs and 76 RBIs. The staff has 25-year-old Pete Donohue who won 26 games in 1925 with a 3.20 ERA in a league where the ERA was 4.40. If interested you can apply through the 'Contact Us' option on the legendsport.com homepage or via PM to 'legendsport' here at the OOTP boards. Thanks for checking out GAB!

The Giants have also filled their opening. That leaves just Cleveland available. The Indians are a very good team, probably the most talented of the three that were available.

There's a new opening in GAB - the Chicago White Sox are now available due to the passing of their GM, who will be honored by having the league's manager award named for him.
The White Sox are a team in rebuilding mode after a disappointing 1925 season, but the cupboard's not bare as there is some talent - particularly among the pitchers. Here are their stats for the 1926 season thus far (we're in mid-May): BATTING Code:
