New World Baseball Federation - New Fictional League Forming

Introduction

Hello everyone! I'm not the most active member of these boards, but I've been around for quite a while (since OOTP4). I've participated in many online leagues, but to my disappointment many of them have failed before they really got a chance to get going. However, I was a part of a great online league, the FMLB which was the best online OOTP experience I've had to date. It lasted about 2 years, and about halfway through I took over commissioner duties. Unfortunately the league fell through after we tried to switch to OOTP 6.5 and half the players didn't upgrade. I'm looking to create a similarly exciting league here that sees communication and GM participation as the most important factors along with a democratic process in place for future decisions such as rule changes.

League Structure

- The New World Baseball Federation is a 12-team fictional league for OOTP 2007 divided into two six-team divisions: the Canadian League and the American League. The best team from each division at the end of the season will advance to the New World Baseball Championship Series, a grueling Best-of-Nine affair.

- 160-game regular season with no inter-league play. Each team plays each of their division rivals 32 times per season.

Canadian League
London Aces
Windsor Warriors (Brandon Parker, Commissioner)
Hamilton Dragons
Toronto Knights
Montreal Mets
Halifax Pirates

American League
Detroit Storm
New York Bombers
Chicago Tritons
Philadelphia Killers
Columbus Archers
Baltimore Eagles

League Setup

- Coaches and Scouts are disabled
- No DH in either league
- $90,000,000 salary cap
- $25,000,000 cash maximum
- Revenue sharing is enabled
- Full minor leagues
- Ghost players disabled
- All teams will start off with equal market size, fan loyalty, and revenues
- Amateur draft will be held mid-season and consist of 20 rounds
- Trading of draft picks is disabled
- Rule 5 and Minor League Option years are enabled
- Ratings system used: 1 to 20
- Spring training will be utilized but quickly simulated; GMs may set their rosters and depth charts for the spring, however.
- All other options are standard as per OOTP 2007

Sim Schedule

- There will be 4 sims weekly, simulating one in-game series at a time. At this pace it should take between 10-12 weeks to finish one season and begin the next, depending on time spent on the pre-season/post-season. The sims will take place on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday night, with rosters due no later than 8:00 p.m., Eastern Time. Results should be posted to the league website no later than Midnight the same day.

Interested?

Currently there are 11 team openings!

If you're interested in joining this league, please read the following requirements/recommendations:

- Must own OOTP 2007
- Must be mature and have experience in OOTP online leagues
- Must be able and willing to export lineups on a regular basis and be an active member of the message board. Failure to submit lineups for 3 consecutive sims results in a warning, failure to do so a second time results in a league-wide vote on whether or not to replace the GM at fault.
- If you have many other commitments, including participation in too many other online leagues currently or strict family/work commitments, perhaps you should look for another league that better suits your availability.

If you meet the above criteria, please e-mail me with the following information (brandon.john.parker@gmail.com)

- Name
- Age
- Brief personal introduction
- Other online leagues (past & present)
- Team desired
- MSN/AIM contact info
- Username on these boards

I am not in a rush to start the league; I want to guarantee that we get a solid group of 12 GMs before we start to prevent having to have players drop out and have to run teams on AI control halfway through the season and look for replacements. I'd rather start the season with names on the waiting list than be in a bind when/if a GM decides to quit.

Final Words

I have registered a domain name for the league; it is http://www.nwbf.info
however I am still working on the website; I am pretty skilled at web design, so don't worry, it'll be a pretty good looking site. Also I will be utilizing vBulletin message boards. Expect the website to be up by next weekend (April 14/15).

In the meantime, once you have been accepted, please feel free to discuss league matters here.

Once the league is full, I hope to start the inaugural draft on the message boards of the league website on a weekend. We'll probably have the first few rounds held on the message board, and then the rest in a live draft or two.

Suggestions are always welcome.
