2007 doesn't recognize Augusta, SC

It shows every other Augusta, but not the Augusta in South Carolina, is there a way to enter it so the game recognizes that it is in SC??

The answer is YES and in five minutes I will give you a detailed explanation on how to do this.

I can tell you that you may want to know the actual population of Augusta, SC along with the longitude and latitude. I will look these up for you too!

After you have the population, longitude and latitude of Augusta,SC, you want to locate a text file called "cities" The path should be similar to this, "C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\Sports Interactive\OOTP Baseball 2007\data\database" unless you have set a custom user data path. (Sorry, if you have the MAC version then I'm not sure where the file is.)

The next step is to backup the "cities" file by creating a copy of it, just in case. I named mine "Copy of Cities"

Now you can open the "cities" file (typically with notepad) and make the changes you want. Just scroll to the end of the file and add the following line:
Augusta,19467,206,South Carolina,33.52,-81.96

The information is the city name, population, nation ID, State or Province name, latitude, longitude, in that order.

I hope this helps! And it will work with any city you want to add!

My only question is, is the Augusta, SC you are talking about the same as North Augusta, SC?

If so, then North Augusta, SC is in the cities file:
North Augusta,19030,206,South Carolina,33.52,-81.96

I found another way around this little problem. Augusta, GA is listed as Augusta-Richmond, I looked in my atlas and discovered that Augusta, GA in in Richmond County. Anyways, what I did instead of editing the cities file, was to just type that name into the slot called "select city" then I could select Augusta, GA.

Some other Instances of this happen in my league were for the Delmarva, West Virgina and Lake County teams. Delmarva is close to Salisbury, MD so I just used Salisbury, The WVA team is in Charleston, WVA and Lake County is near Cleveland, so all I did was just type in a city that is close, that way I can get the local weather conditions. Hope this helps others out.

This was a problem in last year's text files and I can't remember whether it was fixed by SI or I changed it myself. Also Athens, GA is Athens-Clarke (County).

I had a look in the text file, and for some reason it is down as "Boise City".

According to Wikipedia the governments of the City of Augusta and the County of Richmond merged in 1996 forming the governing body of "Augusta-Richmond County." Therefore it seems the game is proper there.

And then immediately following that it says:
The consolidated city-county is today simply known as "Augusta, Georgia" and not by the consolidated name.

And even if it was still known as that officially, I'd doubt anyone ever said the Masters were held in Augusta-Richmond County, Georgia did they?

EDIT - I can see why the county name is used for most of the places that have them as there are more than one of that city in the state, so I was wrong to call this data "superfluous" before.
So it's just the two Georgia ones then.

I've fixed a few of these values for the next version, but it also seems like you've figured out some workarounds, so I'm going to move this to the Claimed Fixed forum.
