Feeder Leagues in fictional historical?

Has anyone used/tested feeder leagues in a fictional, historical universe? I'd like to use them to have drafts with players that have stats. Any thoughts?

I haven't tried it yet, but I see no reason why it shouldn't work.

I wonder if I should adjust any PCM's to get realistic stats/skills in those feeder leagues.
