3044 - put outs not totalling correctly

Again the same problem as in 2006. Let's do some quick calculations take the pitchers IP * 9 and you get the fielding stats IP. So I will assume that both of these numbers are correct. You should then be able to take either the pitchers IP * 3 or the fielders IP / 3 to get the putouts. This calculation will give you 30078, 94 short of what is reported.

Bogieman,

There's something tickling the back of my brain that I think would explain why this is, but I just can't figure it out. Anyway, I've logged it as TT # 3044. We'll see what "the man" has to say about it!

Well, not all innings have three put outs. If a game ends in the home half of an inning, it usually doesn't (hence the concept of the 'walk off' hit). Is that what you meant, Steve?

Sorry to burst your bubble but every full inning pitched will have 3 outs therefore 3 putouts. If there is a walk off homer and there is less than 3 outs you see the .1 or .2, so a walk off homer with 2 outs in the bottom of the ninth the line score would be 8.2 innings. There will be 26 (put)outs and *all* putouts even automatic ones, rule 10.10, are to be credited to a fielder. The last 2 outs just don't disappear because the game ended before the last out. This league had 10026 innings pitched, including all the fractional innings. There should be 30084 putouts.

To add, if you are saying the innings are being rounded then why are the team totals showing fractional innings? Also add the team totals and you get 10026. Again I will assume the innings pitched are correct, accounting for the walk off homers, singles, doubles, triples, sac flies, walks, errors what have you.
