Game crashing when saving or backing up imported OOTP 2006 game
Hi,
After taking 6 hours to import an OOTP 06 game with 60 years of sim history in 20 leagues, I find myself unable to save or backup the game. Everytime I tried to do so the game would crash and I would get the following error message: Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library ------------------------------------- Runtime Error! Program'....Files\Sports Interactive\OOTP Baseball 2007\ootp2007.exe This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contat the application's support team for more information. I have a Pentium Dual Core on Windows XP professional SP2. 2GB memory and Itel 945GM graphic chipset. Anyhelp you can afford would be much appreciated as I'm dying to play the game! |

So, the import process completed successfully, but now it crashes any time you try to save the game, is that correct? Thanks, Steve |

Sorry for the late reply--yes, the import process completed but the game crashes everytime I try to save.
One more note--it's a huge international universe (22 leagues) with 61 years of simmed history. Does the size of the universe have anything to do with it? I've also created the entire universe from scratch and started simming again. The simming flew in the first few years even with 22 leagues (about 2 hours per year for the first 4-5 years), but now that I'm in year 20 it takes almost 8 hours to sim each year. All stat tracking levels are already set to normal, and I'm not saving box scores or recaps. What else can I do? Thanks in advance for any assistance from the forum. I loved OOTP 2006 and this game is blowing me away. |

Well, obviously, the more leagues, and the more history, the slower simming gets. You can try disabling facegen if you don't use it, or look at some of the tips in the Common Issues thread here in Tech Support for some other ideas... At this point, if you need us to keep looking at the first version of your league, I'd need you to send us your dat files, according to these instructions: http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...d.php?t=142100 Thanks, Steve |

Steve,
Thanks again. I've just chosen the option to delete all players that never reached major league from history, as well as deleted certain minor league levels. I think that should help the game sim a little faster. One more thing--I don't really care to save messages or news. Is there any place to disable it and would doing so speed up simming? Again, your assistance is much appreciated (by the entire forum, I'm sure). |

We have a rule in Tech Support that says that requests that have gone more than 3 days awaiting a response from the customer will be closed. This thread fits that bill, so I'm going to go ahead and marked this issue as "closed."
If you disagree, please let us know, it's no problem to re-open this. It's an administrative thing we do to try to ensure that only active issues are being researched. Thanks very much! Steve |
